No 'Troy Schulte Way' Until MLK Street Issue 'Resolved' Seyz Kansas City Mayor Q

The fading Kansas City newspaper attempts to throw the only Conservative under the bus with this editorial but instead reveals the Kansas City Mayor still more interested in a controversial MLK street level tribute . . . It might or might not be worth it to sneak past the paywall for this one:

KC Councilwoman wants to name street 'Troy Schulte Way'? What happened to honoring MLK?

A new proposal to rename a downtown Kansas City street for recently-retired City Manager Troy Schulte is well-intentioned but ill-considered and politically tone-deaf. City Councilwoman Heather Hall wants to honor Schulte by renaming a street near the south entrance of Kansas City Hall for the former longtime city manager and current Jackson County administrator.

  1. Perhaps, for once, we should name a street after a taxpayer rather than a tax-collector. Have the city figure out what individual paid the most in taxes of all kinds to the city and name a street after them.

  2. This is where Heather Hall loses points. I guess she doesn’t care, this is her last term in office. What has Troy Schulte ever done worth this honor. I can’t think of anything that would warrant it.

  3. At least he was in the city MLK never came here.

  4. Why would we name a street after an overpaid bureaucrat?

  6. Name it.. Go Ahead and Fire Me, I'll make more money and sleep better Way

  7. Why in the hell do locals admire this knuckle dragging gorilla who's totally fucked the city up? I don't get it.

  8. Schulte isn't retired. He's just moved in with the criminals of the taxpayer looting and robbing Jackson County Government. A perfect fit for him! He should do well!

  9. The "MLK Street issue" will be resolved when the City removes those street signs and restores "The Paseo." The voters were clear about that. Hop to it, Q.

  10. 9:15 Is correct!!!! I thought the overwhelming vote against renaming The Paseo indeed "RESOLVED" the issue. I NEVER trust this shitty to deal honestly with residents about ANYTHING.

Also, quit mailing me your crapola begging me to buy your kickback insurance for my water pipes. If they break, I can afford to fix them. Just another 12 & Oak money scam.

Good thing it rains occasionally. Haven't seen a street sweeper in over ten years in my neighborhood.

@9:15 and 9:38 are correct. The voters overwhelmingly resolved the MLK issue. The city is just dragging their feet about putting the Paseo signs back up.

  12. You’d think they’d give up on mlk since they are 0-3 since 1978! Two of these votes were by the black community twice and mostly black voters the third time, this thing has been put to rest besides, the days of having or needing mlk blvd are done with, kc was nevar that racist to begin with, Hell, even the blacks are offended by this bullshit.... except the racist cleave and the racist fat fake revs, their way of thinking is out of date and new blood needs to replace these tired old ass men and their tired old ways.

  13. They could recycle the MLK street signs as lane dividers for bikes. I think that would save us about $300K and shut up Bike/Walk.

  14. HEY LUCAS!
    IT'S RESOLVED!
    THE PEOPLE VOTED!
    CHANGE THE DAMN SIGNS!

  15. Just like we shouldn't have spent money to naming the Paseo to MLK Blvd, we sure as hell shouldn't be naming no street after Troy Schulte.

This city cannot get out of it's own way. This shouldn't even really be up for discussion. Heather Hall or whoever wants this can feel free to have a life-sized cut-out of Troy in their living room. But naming an honorary street after him is a farce.
