NEWSFLASH: KCPD WARN ABOUT MEETING INTERNETS STRANGERS AT SWOPE PARK!!!

Very "weird" that police have to give this warning to adults but the safety note is worth sharing nevertheless as locals confuse social media for the much harsher real world . . .

@kcpolice -- We've had multiple reports of victims selling phones on Facebook Marketplace getting robbed in the last few weeks. The "buyer" asks to meet in & around Swope Park. Use an internet exchange zone at 1 of our 6 stations instead.

Careful out there . . .

I wouldn't meet anyone I knew at Swope Park let alone a stranger on the web. They really should change the name of that park, it used to be such a beautiful place and now it's been ruined by people who can't seem to adjust to a normal living environment.

They should change the name to NOPE PARK.

On a serious note, I applaude the KCPD for implementing the internet exchange zones.
