Kansas City Smoke Detector Public Service

Good info about a local public safety effort that could save lives and heartache . . . Checkit and share with those who might not yet be equipped:

Free Smoke Alarms Installed

Following a string of fires in the South Sheffield, Blue River area, representatives of the American Red Cross and the Kansas City, MO Fire Department met at the Whatsoever Community Center at 12 th and Ewing to distribute and install free smoke detectors and speak with area residents on the importance of having working smoke alarms. According to Kansas City Fire Department Fire Education Specialist Jake Burch, the goal is to get a working smoke alarm in as many homes as they can.

I know their thought is to save lives but people that don't have smoke detectors in their homes by now don't seem to value life anyway, theirs or anyone elses. This is just another "free" thing they can get.
