KANSAS CITY SINGLE PAYER CONVERSATION STARTS TONIGHT!!!

Life and death 2020 election season political discourse at the library this evening . . . Checkit:

Health Justice Now: Single Payer and What Comes Next

Drawing from new book Health Justice Now, activist and author Timothy Faust makes the case for a single-payer, government-run healthcare system that assures all Americans of medical coverage. Critics decry the cost. He argues that our country should address healthcare as a human right, paying for it the same way we do for roads and police and fire services.

    1. Right far better to have insurance companies in charge.

  3. Single payer is unmanageable, but the current tens of thousands of payers, all of whom take their cut of the health care budget, can be dramatically reduced, e.g., one payer system for the VA and military, one payer system for Medicare, and a handful of regional payers for the private health insurance companies. The savings would be in the billions.

  4. Yes, why would we want something different, when we can go into massive debt due to a prolonged or catastrophic illness, and then simply wish we were dead?

  7. Just another "activist" with no responsibilities for any outcomes he has to recommend, or even better, DEMAND.
This guy joins an endless line of consultants, college professors (most from the Ivy League) who pontificate from on high, promise the low-information population everything for free, and stampede one group or another of clueless electeds into making mindless decisions because "they don't want to get left behind".
    Just like streetcars.
    And "smart cities".
And "all the millenials are moving downtown".
    And on and on.
There won't be Medicare for all and if the Democratic presidential candidates run emphasizing that issue, they will lose.

  8. And yet they won't. Weird.

  10. I guess that all Trump supporters truly believe that Americans are too stupid to make "Single Payer Health Care" work, unlike every other civilized Country in the World has been able to.

Bet that, if we had adopted it in 1848 like the Germans did, we aren't so stupid that we couldn't have worked out the bugs by now.

Or if we'd adopted it in 1904, the way Teddy Roosevelt (a Republican President) wanted. Or in 1953, as Eisenhower (yes, another Republican) proposed.
