Kansas City Has Poets, If You Didn't Know It

The local poetry scene enjoyed a boom during the 90s before locals could take to social media to express their creativity. AND NOW the work isn't as widely celebrated but still merits the attention of a dedicated group of creative locals. Here's a sample of their work:

Some readers feel intimidated by poetry. Maybe somewhere along the way, the emphasis was placed on what a poem means. What a poem "means" is the booby prize. It's the consolation prize. Besides, nobody knows - not the teacher, sometimes not even the author.
