Downtown Baseball? Show Us the Research

New Royals owner John Sherman is giving interviews extolling the virtues of downtown baseball. In a recent story, Sherman said: "Baseball creates more economic opportunity in denser areas versus suburban areas or less dense areas." Unfortunately, he does not offer any evidence to support the claim.

It's way past time for we peons to subsidize billionaires.

I'm cool with the rich, they can keep their money, but they, in conjunction with corrupt local and national politicians need to keep their hands off of our hard earned cash.

  9. Turner Field wasn't downtown. It was close to downtown but it was south of the highways. It was also more of a temporary solution since it was originally built for the olympics. The new Falcons stadium is literally downtown though so Atlanta must have liked something about downtown stadiums

  10. Why do we need professional sports in KC anyway? Seems like Royals & Chiefs (with out of town ownership) are just a big waste of money and all we get out of it is a parade once in a while.

KC should stop trying to act like a real city and try and become a little more like Wichita!

And while were at it, get rid of that new airport up there, it's too expensive and we don't deserve it anyway - we suck.

  17. 10:40 - I'm not familiar with Atlanta, I'll be honest, but I've done some work there and when I was going to the airport, I literally was driving down a highway and drove with past Turner Field.
