KANSAS CITY CONGRESSMAN CLEAVER EXPLAINS WAR POWERS RESOLUTION AGAINST PREZ TRUMP AND TOUTS CONTINUED ACCOMPLISHMENTS!!!
Quick catch-up with Kansas City's top ranking elected official and his take on recent Congressional action . . .
Congressman Cleaver’s 2019 Accomplishments Memo
Hello Friends,
I hope that you enjoyed a peaceful holiday season filled with family, friends, and loved ones. After a brief respite, this week the United States House of Representatives reconvened in Washington, D.C. to open the second session of the 116th Congress.
With our first order of business, the House took action to protect American lives and values by passing a War Powers Resolution to limit the President’s military options regarding Iran. For far too long, Congress has relinquished its constitutional responsibilities and continuously ceded power to the Executive Branch, which has led to costly and endless wars in the Middle East. With the War Powers Resolution, the House of Representatives took a major step in reasserting congressional authority to declare war and ensuring that future Presidents come to Congress before initiating any military conflicts. As a long-time advocate for a co-equal Legislative Branch, I was happy to support this necessary vote.
While I’m sure many of you are interested in what awaits in 2020, I’d like to take a moment to look back on all the progress the Fifth District of Missouri made in 2019. As your representative, it’s important to keep you apprised of the work my office and I are doing. For that reason, I’m happy to share with you our Annual Accomplishments Memo for 2019. In the memo you can find legislation I’ve passed into law, hearings I’ve held as Chairman of a Financial Services Subcommittee, and services my office has provided for constituents in the Fifth District.
I’m incredibly proud of the work my staff and I were able to do last year, and I’m hopeful you’ll take as much pride as we do in the progress we’re making as a congressional district. As always, it’s been a humbling honor to serve you in the Halls of Congress, and I look forward to building on our achievements in 2020.
You can find the Annual Accomplishments Memo here.

The debate over war powers has been going on since Truman. I think what we're seeing from Iowa is that Healthcare is one of the big issues that people want Democrats to address again. It might be the only place where they hold a clear advantage against President Trump.
ReplyDeleteTrump REPEATEDLY said..."I will repeal and replace Obamacare! With something better!"
ReplyDelete^^^^^And the democrats keep holding it back asshole
ReplyDeleteWell once again Cleaver shows how out of touch with reality he really is. If Cleaver had his way we'd talk something to death for years before doing anything. Problem with that is by then it's way to late and more damage has been done than can ever be fixed. Just look at KC today to figure that one out.
ReplyDeleteI hear-ed Cleaver keeps the picture of some black asshole in his desk. Don't know if it's true or not, asking for my Progressive non-binary friend. I don't know who I'll vote for, I probably will just stay at home, since it's snowing out. Just keep raising my taxes... I'm sure one of you will know what to do with my money, because I don't.
ReplyDeleteThey should of restrained Obama. Libya is still a mess because of Obama. Trump is handling Iran the right way, he did not start a war but took out the person was going to start a war. Trump wins. Democrats lose.
ReplyDeletebut somehow congress voted for war in afghanistan & iraq bc they were & remain to be a bunch of dumb shits that listened to the black man they tasked to wag around a vial of powdered sugar. barbara Lee gets a lil medal.
ReplyDeleteSitting on his ass in D.C. accomplishing nothing other then collecting a taxpayer paycheck is fitting for this guy.
ReplyDeleteByron would vote for Cleaver, if retards were allowed to vote.
ReplyDeleteOhhhh libya was a different beast, but they fckd that up too. Hilary thot the region & US were bff after Gaddafi killed.
ReplyDeletethe latest with iran was very predictable once you heard Iran said "u can't do anything". I thot 'oh shit'.
ReplyDeletewhile it is unfortunate iran said that and US felt a need to respond, going to even a few nuggets in congress to authorize their plans would have been a waste of time.
ReplyDeleteBarry Obama was given the Nobel Peace prize after only 11 days in office -- he was THAT good!!
ReplyDeleteNOT because of liberal grovelling to a black Prez.
Riiight.
Where is our Duke and Duchess of Sussex coverage?
ReplyDeleteCongressman Carwash’s 2019 Anal Accomplishments Memo
ReplyDeleteHere are just a few things I accomplished in the past year:
I largely avoided the media again, lest they begin reporting on my obvious cognitive impairment.
I still haven't paid the court-ordered financial judgment from years ago.
I got my hair-plugs readjusted.
I denied the Russian reports that Maxine Waters gave me a golden shower.
I called Sharice Davids an Indian-giver after she withdrew a pledge to sign my Civility Contract.
I got my head stuck inside Nancy Pelosi's ass, when I was kissing it at the very instant that Trump inserted his foot.
I successfully passed a bill to rename a post office.
Here's to another fruitful year in 2020. I'll be going as a black elderberry!
If Cleave can explain the war powers resolution then he surely explain why he isn't paying back the loan on his failed car wash.
ReplyDeleteThe war powers resolution is symbolic only so....
ReplyDeleteKinda like all the years he’s spent in dc because he ain’t done jack shit for nobody.
Except pad his $7,000,000 of secret money he’s trying to hide from everybody, if only Bank of America knew this....
he is, and always will be a candy-ass
ReplyDeleteThe same old Barking Dogs!
ReplyDelete4:25: I hate to break your pretty balloon, but we went to war in Iraq (remember weapons of mass destruction?) and Afghanistan under W. Obama voted against the Iraq war.
ReplyDeleteBut don't let facts detract from your delusions.
^^^^ Damn good point!
ReplyDelete8:31 dumb shit, the black man i was talking about is now a retired 4 star general by the name of Colin Powell.
ReplyDeleteAnother reason why you are full of shit, delusional, and need to shut up n' sit down.
ohhhhh 8:31 just got knocked the fuck out again, weird.
ReplyDeleteAnd yet OBAMA kept the wars going. Weird.
ReplyDelete^^^^ Damn Good point!
ReplyDelete4:27: Oh. You mean Colin Powell--the guy who warned the Bush administration that "if you break it it's yours" regarding Iran? If you want the culprits who marched our young kids into Iraq, consider Cheney (Halliburton needed the business) and the people actually in the administration. Powell was not a fan of the war.
ReplyDeleteBut why let facts ruin a good racist rant?
Cleaver's goals for 2020
ReplyDelete1) Stop writing letters and memos.
2) Take a personal finance class.
3) Remove picture of Al Jarreau from under desk.
Cleaver served in Vietnam and won a Bronze Star saving troops as a Chaplain. What did you cowards do in the war?
ReplyDeleteWasnt Federal judge Gaitan Cleavers good buddy? Did they serve together?
ReplyDelete10:16AM Cleaver's a military veteran?
ReplyDeleteReference please!
^^^^10:16 must be the same guy who said Fred Trump won a Bronze Star in France during World War II.
ReplyDeleteHe did. And your family did nothing. Weird.
ReplyDeleteIf Fred won a Bronze Star, it was in a poker game. He was building shoddy housing for the military here during the war.
ReplyDelete6:33 u have crap reading comprehension. U see the part where it said 'they' sent out a black man to wag around a vial of powdered sugar? Who do u think'they' refers to? But why let facts get in the way of u being a dipshit.
ReplyDelete^^^^Obviously I have crap reading comprehension when it comes to reading your eloquently written posts.
ReplyDelete6;33 rather play this nuh-uh fck u whitey and have his little blk white sparring match based on their misinterpretation, which is for their tender ego. In some paiting schools they make students labor on a painting for weeks, they put their fragilities and tender ego in it and when they think it all done and they will get praise, they are told to scrape the canvas down and it means nothing, they get no praise. Helps them prepare for the realities of the world that everyone faces.
ReplyDelete^^^^Do you have a point? Inquiring minds want to know.
