Kansas City Celebrates Brand New Busted Fountain For The Northland

Across the bridge, the poor souls who attend community meetings have been waiting decades for more fountains . . . Now, they might learn that most of the urban core monuments are in a horrible state of disrepair and/or serve as gathering spots for junkies.

Kansas City likes to call itself the City of Fountains, but only two of approximately 200 fountains are north of the Missouri River. For years this has rankled northland officials and neighborhood leaders who have felt the entryways to their communities lacked inviting art and monuments.

  1. Of course. Lets put up another fountain that the city will say they can't afford to maintain. Now this is the reason we elect such forward thinking leaders.

  2. Residents and taxpayers ho live north of the river would probably rather have some sidewalks so the kids can safely walk to school and maybe a little street and road maintenance.
But a new fountain will give smiley selfies Lucas and the rest of the electeds another chance for press releases, photo ops, and ribbon cuttings, so their choice is clear.
    Momentum!

  9. The project is of value and the "water features" north of the river are few and far between. The the project is advertised as "private money" but the promoters of the project pursued Public Improvements Advisory Committee (PIAC) money. Pick one. Private money. Public money. The efforts in Kansas City MO are so poorly managed. Embarrassing. Sad a metro with some 2 million people cannot coordinate enough to raise a few million for a water feature without someone going to jail.
