KANSAS CITY 2020: SELFISH CYCLING ADVOCATES DEMAND MORE ATTENTION & MONEY THAN LOCAL MURDER COUNT!!!

A sign of the times, the newspaper is hoping about a sketchy bandwagon and working to push a pricey legislation that's already been rejected.

Kansas City Star: Two people hit by a car in KC were blamed. After a complaint, KCPD changed the story

Deets:

"She sees a larger pattern, one where pedestrians and bicyclists are blamed when vehicles hit them, even if they do everything right.

She compares her experience with that of a Kansas City bicyclist who was hit by a car on Christmas Eve and died five days later. In that case, BikeWalkKC, a bicyclist-pedestrian organization, said the police description of that crash bordered on “victim blaming.”

Translation . . .

BIKE/WALK KC WANTS TO STEAL THE SPOTLIGHT AWAY FROM EFFORT TO CURB LOCAL VIOLENCE BY CASTING EVERY PEDESTRIAN AND CYCLISTS AS PROFESSIONAL VICTIMS!!!

Pushing murder victims out of the way to build bike lanes is a cynical, disgusting strategy that essentially dances on the grave of every innocent youngster ever murdered in this town. When pressed on this tactic the cowards quickly retreat but the fact is their renewed initiative to capture $400-million from City Hall is callous and unafraid to ride the corpses of their colleagues to victory.

  2. When someone is at fault, IT IS THEIR FAULT...... STUPID F@#K!

  3. The Bike/Walk KC group will ride anything, including a bicycle with no seat, in order to have their demands met and to heck with everybody else just so they get their narrative out front.
Bike/Walk KC is pushing a $400 plus million scam.

  4. Why would anyone in a position of responsibility, including elected positions, pay any attention at all to such a narrowly focused selfish and completely unrealistic little group of people?
Whoever is providing money for these clowns needs to either introduce them to reality or cut them completely off.
And the folks at KCMO city hall need to tell them to get lost.
Their "priorities" don't even make the list.
    What a joke!

  5. Asking taxpayers to fund bike lanes is like asking them to expand sidewalks so I can juggle more freely as I walk to work. No one in Kansas City uses bikes as anything more than exercise/hobby. Let's not treat it like a transportation mode.

  6. Until they have real headlights, blinkers, full coverage insurance (health and vehicle) to cover they damages they cause to another persons vehicle, pay taxes on their bikes and have a bicycle license and a license plate, pass a driving course so these dumbasses know how to ride on the streets they get nothing. Fix these things first then and only then let’s talk about money for bicycle lanes.

  7. Bike/"Walk" KC, stop lying!

Your guy ran a red light and hit a car!
That was not the fault if the automobile driver!

Neither of the people killed while on foot were crossing the street at the corner!

Obey the damn laws, THEN you have a right to bitch!
(And try to make yourselves money off their deaths.)

  8. Avid bicyclist here, go away Bike/Walk. I have had no problems riding all over town for the last 40 years. Obay the rules of the road. 1st rule cars have the right of way.

  9. During the summer there were about ten dudes on bikes riding west on cleaver blvd, this is a 40mph two lane each way stretch of road and these guys were weaving in and out of both lanes, they were riding about 15mph and yacking back and forth to each other and definitely not paying attention to the traffic, bad move when riding through the hood because the black folks weren’t putting up with this shit. These dudes actually had the nerve to cuss and flip people off, they be lucky dey didn’t get runned over by da sista’s cus dey don’t play dat shit.

  10. NO MORE BIKE LANES!!! At the expense of other worthy needs in this city!

And undo the mess created on Armour Blvd, it is dangerous FOR CARS!!! Much less the few who ride bicycles on that street!

  11. They’re Bike Nazi’s. No more needs to be said.

  12. When they obey the rules, then they can complain. KCMO water dept./MODOT put in a 10-foot nicely paved bike trail in front of my house. It's nearly 2 1/2 miles of perfect pavement. Some of these bike groups absolutely will not ride on it, and still ride in the street. If only the car drivers of this town were given such perfect pothole-free roads!

  13. When you have no facts to back your claims like Bike KC does all you can rely on then is to spread bullshit over everyone hoping it sticks.

  14. Thank You 10:40 am...

  15. Unfortunately, there is a lot of our 'elected' officials that are actually fucking stupid enough to go along with them and bow to their demands. Expect more 'go bonds' like legislation to put int front of their moronic democrat masses to vote on.

  16. KCPD changes the story. Seems like some cops should be looking for another job.

  17. Large population cities with bike lanes that exceed large per capita percentage as per se-
Have a much lower murder rate than KC.
It’s a proven fact that bike lanes lower crime- with one exception :
The crime of hitting a biker. Usually inattentive driving.
Colossal misspent dollars can build bike lanes for free.
    Example:
The non- green trolley car should be defunded and it either lives or dies on its own.
    This is low hanging fruit.
Let’s build bike lanes and lower the KC murder rate!
“Hit a bike rider-Lose your license!!”
