Bike/Walk KC Supporters Demand $400-MILLION For Bike Lanes That Don't Work

Even more advocacy and this week for a doomed bit of legislation that's JUST AS MUCH ABOUT CONSULTING CONTRACTS as advocacy for tragically killed cyclists. Checkit:

Cycling advocates pressuring Kansas City leaders to reduce traffic deaths after biker killed on Christmas Eve

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Following the death of a popular cyclist on Christmas Eve, advocates for walking and bike riding are urging the city council to take action to eliminate all traffic deaths in the next ten years. A car struck and killed Pablo Sanders on Christmas eve as he was riding his bike along Southwest Trafficway.

  7. They should be promoting safety within their own community. It was 100 percent the cyclists fault that he was killed. Bitching to the city will not change those who are recklessly riding bicycles. They should be teaching each other.

This is how you know the Bike people are not to be taken seriously, instead of working to make their group better they would rather complain and blame others and demand others solve their problems

  10. In a thousand years - you can never make bikes or their riders safe from speeding cars, blind elderly drivers, teens speeding in giant SUV's, impaired drivers......bike riders are suicidal. They should ride on bike trails where cars are not allowed. Foam helmets crush easy under car tires.

  11. Idiots sitting at a meeting wearing their basically worthless so called safety hats trying to make a point. I get the point you're goofy and want everyone else to pay for your hobbies perks. I want a new bass boat for this summer to use on our lakes but doubt I will be able to afford that. You see I have to pay taxes, trailer license fees, fishing permits and all that sort of crap to enjoy my hobby. But it supports and helps fund my hobby. What do you Bike KC losers who more than half live outside the city do to support your hobby other than standing with a hand held out?

  12. I have to laugh at these egotistical idiots. They show up at a council meeting wearing their little bike hats and just like the guy that got killed not one, NOT ONE, of these stupid people in the picture have their safety gear on correctly. Not one of these stupid people have their hats secured on their heads. What if they trip going up the stairs and hit their heads? Brain damage, although it would be hard to assess that it happened by their hitting their heads on the concrete floor as they are already stupid. Plus they don't pay taxes so they should have no say in spending tax money paid by working people.

  13. REMOVE THE BIKE LANES FROM ARMOUR BLVD!!!! And no more added!!!!! Special interests have no place! we have too many other pressing problems to be concerned with a few bicyclists!!! Just ride in the street and obey traffic laws!

  14. Thats a good name Vision Zero. Because most bicycle riders ride with the their head up their Asses.

  15. What were the circumstances of those 14 cyclist and pedestrian deaths on Kansas City roadways last year? A study of how those accidents happened may shed light on what changes would be successful in reducing these accidents.
