Here's why our Kansas City community of malcontents, dweebs, jocks, sportos, motorheads and geeks PERSISTS and mercilessly mocks local politics when we can . . . Turns out, elected officials and big biz don't like being embarrassed. With enough cash they can fake support on social media . . . But d-bags who follow the story of the upcoming KCMO bankruptcy still have a voice in this blog that INSIDERS check throughout the day.

Kansas City Chips Away At Tax Breaks For Waddell & Reed, But Schools Say They'll Still Lose Millions
Waddell & Reed will have a week to get city officials and Kansas City Public Schools on board with an incentive deal for its new headquarters. The Kansas City Council on Thursday reduced the company's incentive package and delayed a vote on tax breaks for the project.
Hey, what's a few million between friends?
ReplyDeleteRock and a hard place. I don’t want tax breaks for Waddel&Reed but I don’t want more money for a wasteful, worthless school district and illiterate urban students.
ReplyDeleteMayor Q, pass this corporate welfare giveaway and consider yourself a known, documented FUCKING LIAR!
ReplyDeleteDo they have to pay the e-tax? Or was that part of the package too ? There has been no mention of this in the MSM. At least if these "relocated" Overland Park jobs now have to pay their 1% to the e-tax, it might take a little of the TIF sting out of it. But no one has said anything about it. If you live in the suburbs but make your money in KCMO you need to pay for the streets too, not just your shiny new office building.
ReplyDeleteAn enlarged carbon footprint with all those big SUVs driving an extra 30 miles a day back to JO. Where's Sherice and her green housewives outrage ?
ReplyDeleteSharice didn't do anything to keep this $200 million dollar profit company in her district. NOTHING! She just voluntarily gives away jobs to Missouri. Then KCMO gives away $100 million more to this $200 million dollar profit company to get them into subsidized offices. Aren't there any empty buildings they could have offered up like they did to the USDA?
ReplyDeleteIt steals money from the school district and when the KCPS objects they cut the incentives by $5 million, big deal.
How about next time, and I hope this is the last time, when a beggar asks for $100 million say "We and give you $1 million". You don't have to take their offer, they have to take yours. Learn a negotiation skill, it's called "Quid pro Quo" and it is not illegal. Idiots, we elect idiots!
