CHECK THE FIRST LOOK AT THE NOSTALGIA PITCH FOR A DOWNTOWN KANSAS CITY STADIUM!!!
We're already seeing the branding campaign in the works and a sentimental pitch to old school voters who won't be around to pay for the nightmare is a nice gamebit for a campaign confronting a taxpayer revolt. Read more:

Dreaming of Fields: A History of Kansas City Ballparks
Kansas City needs a downtown ballpark. At least, that's the speculation sparked by the recent sale of the Kansas City Royals to a new ownership group led by John Sherman. Indeed, there is a long history of downtown ballparks or ball fields in Kansas City - depending upon how one defines "downtown."
More stupidity from a city ran by stupid people.
ReplyDeleteWe have a endless supply
ReplyDeleteThey want to turn everything from downtown to the plaza into a congested, infested, and polluted concrete jungle devoid of nature and human interaction.
ReplyDeleteflatearthkc my favorite rag.
ReplyDeleteKaufman stadium is one of the nicest baseball parks in the United States. If the team wants a new one make them pay for the whole thing themselves. That includes tearing down the old one and making more parking for Arrowhead.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was decent read. Better than most of the links posted on here
ReplyDeleteI want downtown baseball. Royals stadium isn't all that great. It's nice if you've never been to any other baseball stadium and I guess tailgating is cool, but I'd like to have baseball downtown where people are rather than out by the scrapyards in independence
ReplyDelete^^I know scrap yards and you my friend are clueless to what they are. So continue to go through life being an idiot but please keep your mouth shut doing so.
ReplyDelete^^Are you retarded or stupor dave?
ReplyDelete11:08, The only reason you "know" scrapyard are because your shithole trailer is parked in one right now. Please go back to butt fucking your sister-cousin-wife and leave this discussion to the adults.
ReplyDeleteA downtown ballpark is the dumbest idea ever
ReplyDeleteMaybe the T-Bones can take over Kaufman stadium
or they could bulldoze the K and make some hotels and dining options for Arrowhead
This is a pipe dream that needs to go away. The state of Missouri just invested millions in revamping the exit that pours all of the transplanted Chiefs and Royals fans into the stadium parking. In fact, their still working on ramps and other things around the existing stadium to make traffic flow a bit better during those games. The City should be coordinating tax resources... and if there were any serious plans to move the stadium - they should have moved on it before this highway interchange investment project was started. Stadium is fine where it is. Kansas City cannot afford anymore haphazard moves. It cost the people too much.
ReplyDeleteWhy don’t you assholes fix a few potholes first!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSomething that is un-used 6 months out of the the year is obviously the best use for downtown land.
ReplyDeleteSprint Center is only open like 50 times a year and I'd consider it a win and a major upgrade over the kemper location
ReplyDelete11:19 and 22 are one and the same who see Super Dave everywhere all the time. You need to go to facebook to see Dave he's tired of idiots like you and frankly so am I.
ReplyDeleteThe only fans who want a downtown stadium are the homosexuals. They want to walk from their gay bar to the stadium then back to the gay bar to suck dick and swish around.
ReplyDeleteSo your saying Quinton is for it, right? Yay!
DeleteGood article, shitty headline.
ReplyDeleteThis was about the long history of stadiums in KC, not pushing for a new location or park.
Stop with the misleading clickbait blogging.
You're NOT getting you fuckin money back if you pay for it Mr. andd Mrs. tax payer.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.cato.org/publications/commentary/surprise-stadiums-dont-pay-after-all
We got 99 fuckin problems in this town and a the need for a new stadium ain't one of 'em.
The Royals don’t deserve a downtown location. They are a terrible organization
ReplyDeleteKuafmann and arrowhead both SUCK!! anyone that says oh there are nice has not been another stadium since the 80s. Bad views, bad sound, parking crazy expensive and the location is nothing but trailer parks, strip bars and meth holes.
ReplyDeleteNew stadium is going to go on land owned by clever maybe not out right but his hand is deep up that ass.
New stadium will be down by the negro legue muesum so they can get kick backs from that action.
Heres the real fun the TAX PAYING SUCKERS IN KC MO WILL PAY FOR THE WHOLE THING WHILE CLEVER RACKS IN THE PROFITS.
FYI all major league sports venues are struggling. NFL and MLB are both losing attendance. All the money is in the TV contracts and that is even losing money.
Rebuild Municipal Stadium. Use the same plans and rebuild all of the "Sam's" parking lots too.
ReplyDeleteAsk the Royals fans in Johnson Count where they want the stadium. After all most of the teams support is in Kansas.
ReplyDeleteThe Royals have a contract that keeps them where they are for the next several years. Hopefully by then cooler heads will prevail and people will realize a downtown stadium is an absolutely horrible idea. Think tickets and parking are high-priced now? They will be ridiculous if KC ends up with a downtown ballpark. Just one of many reasons this shouldn't happen.
ReplyDeleteI hate this idea so much. No need. Who cares if a game is downtown? Just harder to get to, traffic is already a nightmare. Where will they park? Miles away, then ride a bus to the stadium? Just a few fatcats want to get richer at the cost of the taxpayer. Stadium wont be nicer; it wont be cheaper. Games won't change. Meanwhile, anyone who wants to get downtown for anything else will have to fight the extra crowd of fans. Everyone loses, maybe a handful who already have enough money win.
