It might be a sign of Sunday generosity or maybe just a realization that this EPIC BIG BIZ GIMMIE IS PLAYING HORRIBLY THROUGHOUT THE MIDWEST . . . Either way, the good folks at the KC Biz Journal aren't hiding this DESPERATE DEFENSE of local greed behind the paywall.

Editor's Briefing: Why KC, Missouri are offering $100M to Waddell & Reed - Kansas City Business Journal

Why in the world would Kansas City and the state of Missouri offer $106 million in incentives to Waddell & Reed Financial Inc. to move a few miles east into a new $140 million headquarters? It's the question of the week, particularly since it appeared a new Kansas City mayor and City Council was tightening the incentives purse strings.

  6. So much for the bi-state truce, and so much for tightening the purse strings of development incentives. Anyone with half a brain should see that no matter who is "in charge", the public's money will continue to flow to those who are connected and promise campaign contributions / future employment to the corrupt group of failures we call "public servants". Until there is REAL demand for change, which includes using every democratic process available to the citizenry include elections, recalls, and corruption investigations, nothing will change.

  8. It’s called re distribution of wealth, they give the money to the owners and the owners give them back a percentage, that’s how they do it in Washington.

  10. 11_20 comment, this was before the bi state truce, so think of it like as a last gasp of the kind of abuses we saw before that thankfully and hopefully will be over with after the KS Mo truce...
