TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! JACKSON COUNTY RESIDENTS: SHOW-ME MISSOURI STATE TAX COMMISH AMID ASSESSMENT CRISIS!!!

This morning we're got an INSIDER QUOTE and maybe a preview of the next turn in this Courthouse drama that now confronts a much tougher legislative session in GOP dominated Jeff City.

Checkit:

"The Missouri State Tax Commission seems to be hiding out in their bunker in Jefferson City. Charged with statewide oversight of the property assessment process, they have been notably silent during the unfolding Jackson county tax disaster. Perhaps owing to the 120 mile distance, the Commission has avoided the inquisitive cameras of KC media. But they do have some explaining to do about their role in this mess."

In fairness, the AWESOME TIPSTER acknowledges uncovering "a MO House report just released last Friday. TAX commish people did apparently show up to those hearings, but little else had been heard from them."

  1. I don't know why the Governor hasnt stepped up. This is a Republican issue and opportunity to bail out tax payers. I don't understand the silence. I plan to pay in protest but we shouldn't have to take on added expenses to dispute these frauds at Jackson County.

  2. Property taxes hurt the local economy. The county uses the money to service debt on money already spent. The property owners would likely spend the money locally. Lose, lose for all involved.

  6. Somebody please put together a point by point summary of why they believe the tax re-assessment and levy process was so deeply illegal or otherwise so flawed that it should totally cancelled, re-thought and redone. I hear lots of random criticisms, but not much of substance.

  7. ^^^Not much substance in favor of the debacle and just as much random favor by the electeds and appointed, too. So, I would appreciate it being spelled out why it is true and correct especially when their were no in-person evaluations of any property.

  11. 9:42 Do you know how Google works? Search for KCTV5 website. Then search for Jackson County reassessment. Then read the more than 10 reports about this cluster eff process. If you can't read, watch the videos. The county administrators' own emails show the process was flawed and probably corrupt.
