TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! INSIDER: KANSAS CITY STAR ATTACKS POLICE BY REPORTING INACCURATE 2019 HOMICIDE COUNT!!!

As the Kansas City Star struggles to maintain their circulation, the dead-tree-media institution has turned their so-called "journalism" into social justice advocacy and now refuse to provide the public with accurate numbers related to the KCMO homicide count.

To wit . . .

KANSAS CITY INSIDERS BLAST THE STAR FOR MISREPRESENTING THE 2019 HOMICIDE COUNT WHICH CALCULATES POLICE AMONG THE KILLERS!!!

Here's the word among KICK-ASS INSIDERS ASKING OUR TKC BLOG COMMUNITY FOR HELP in this struggle for the municipal narrative on the topic of violent crime or at least an explanation of newspaper talking points . . .

"TKC, just wanted you to know that The Kansas City Star has decided to take advice from community activists and now lists officer-involved shootings among the number of local murders. These shootings are not being contested legally and police have been cleared. Essentially, the police shootings have been ruled justifiable homicide which is not documented as murder under the Unified Crime Reporting standards mandated by the FBI and followed by KCPD. I'm not saying that Kansas City still isn't a very violent place and there's a need to work to curb the murder rate. But readers should know that the Star is inventing their own numbers and not following federally mandated standards for crime reporting."

TKC journalism in action: We asked a Kansas City Star reporter about this note and how the newspaper documented KCMO killing. Here's the quote we got back on the social media record and screen capped if deleted:

"The Star includes fatal police shootings in our homicide count so our number sits higher than KCPD’s and other media"

Over the years we've investigated how homicide is calculated and, credit where it's due, the KCPD provides excellent resources to the community in their daily homicide report -- The blue sheet.

Moreover, in the latest police shooting that The Star is counting as a murder -- KCPD has been cleared by prosecutors and no charges will be filed.

And again, this is what we're hearing from some law enforcement supporters:

BY MISCOUNTING THE HOMICIDE NUMBERS AND INCLUDING DEADLY OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTINGS THAT HAVE BEEN CLEARED: THE KANSAS CITY STAR ACCUSES COPS OF MURDER!!!

Don't get it twisted, TKC has argued with P.I.O.'s about this number in the past and the FBI count does in fact represent a tougher standard for murder totals but, like it or not, IT'S THE BEST DATA WE'VE GOT AND IS UNIFORM FOR ALL CITIES ACROSS THE NATION.

Even worse, the Star's miscounting is influencing other, weaker media and the political elite.

Recently, Mayor Quinton Lucas used the Star's number to include deadly police shootings in the local murder count and confused a great many of his social media followers.

And so we put the question to our blog community . . .

SHOULD THE PUBLIC TRUST INFO FROM KANSAS CITY STAR OR SUPPORT THE DATA PROVIDED BY KCPD?!?!

This is literally a question of life or death and a struggle for locals to determine their trust in the newspaper as circulation numbers and dead-tree influence declines.

You decide . . .

  1. Nobody should trust anybody in Kansas City.

    1. I like the angle about the politics of these numbers. If police have truly been "cleared" then including them in the murder total is tantamount to calling them killers. Not sure if The Star even realizes what they're doing but the "activists" are more than willing to lead them along that path.

  2. KCMO.. 5th most fucked up city in the U.S.A.

  3. Kansas City Star mostly just another agitprop publication nowadays. I don't trust it.

  4. You hear over and over again about how there's not journalism without newspapers. I think the TV news does a much better jobs of covering KC than the news paper. KCTV5 and Channel 41 especially.

If you want good news check out fox4. There is journalism without newspapers. Think about it!

  5. Are we really surprised Mayor Qrime and the KCPD are giving out inaccurate lower numbers ?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Actually, the KCPD numbers are lower. Star's are higher.

Right now the star counts 149 and KCPD should count 147 when they update.

Not hate, just want to inform.

  6. Wow. What a fascinating discussion by KC's worst. Is this what it's like to get old?

  9. What the commie red star is doing here is incredibly dangerous to the police, why is the red star trying to instigate the violent and murderous blacks into a potentially starting a war against the police? If something happens to an officer because of their hateful attacks they’re gonna get their ass sued off. I hope the people responsible for this stupidity realizes that they’re putting people and their families lives at risk.

That being said, I’ve always thought the city forced the police to have fake lower numbers to hide the fact from the public about how really dangerous this city is. If anybody has been paying attention you’ll have noticed that if the news doesn’t show up to a death scene then those are not counted as murder, think about that, anything the folks at city hall can do to avoid counting a murder in their minds is good and they do it on purpose, they’re just hiding from the truth is all.

    1. I admire your spirit but you need to get your own blog. Nobody wants to read that kind of racist b.s., you're living in your putrid mind and think other people care about it. You are mistaken. Most of Kansas City loves the newspaper and wants to see it succeed and they also love their police. Too bad you don't know much about about KC @8:19. You can't form a real thought without falling into stupid junk obviously influenced by hate websites and social media.

  10. These people could fuck up an anvil with a ping-pong ball.

A homicide is the killing of one human by another.

A justifiable homicide is the killing of a human that is allowed by law- execution by the state, self defense killings and police shootings.

MURDER is the intentional or criminally negligent killing of one human by another that is not justified by law.

    Class dismissed.

  11. Don't worry boomers, next week the homicide count goes back to zero and you'll have to find something else to worry about.

  12. Support the police!

  13. Apparently we need a NEW corollary:
    Don't COUNT the carrier pigeon.

A murder is defined as the commission of a fatal crime because the police are not present. Justifiable homicide is not murder. Ipso facto (OK Chuck, there's your entrance cue)...when a cop must take down a criminal, and it is justified and not prosecuted as a murder, then it is not a murder. And thus should not be counted.

What possesses the KC STAR to ignore the federal counting system? To try to gin up a race war. As socialists and social justice warriors with a zero track record, ain't theys gots enough challenges? Like trying to elect Joe Biden??

What's next? The STAR could editorialize to make KCI exempt from Daylight Savings Time. So folks won't know what time to catch a flight or pick someone up.

And the STAR sports department could start reporting the details of Chiefs games in METRIC! "From one meter in front of the Chargers end zone, Mahomes connected with Travis Kelce on a screaming 23 meter pass, just shy of a first metric down.

I can't wait till they fold.

  34. 11:24, do you remember when the Star allowed lots of comments? I sort of do. And quite a few of the commenters pointed out that Derek Donovan, despite his title, did nothing to represent readers. His real job was to justify the ways of the Star against all critics. I think he even gave up the "Reader Representative" title, likely because it was so obviously bogus.

Nowadays, even if the Star encouraged comments, few would bother.

  35. Well, City employees picked up the trash today. That is something and different than last week.

    ReplyDelete
  36. sLIE did everything in his power to keep the real murder numbers from being revealed because he didn’t want to admit that the real momentum in kc was the murders, he also didn’t want the title of most murders while mayor record.

What sLIE’s legacy truly is when it comes to murders is no mayor has evar had over 1200 murders while they were in charge, no matter how hard he tried to keep the actual murder numbers down he still is the mayor of murders.

  37. Fake News at its best.

  41. Hilarious reading all these right wing antigovernment types going out on a major limb for Mayor Qrime and the KCPD. 2019 will be the second deadliest year this century in KCMO

  43. As usual Tracy is right.
Not sure Donavan is butt boy- but he usually took the side of the paper and not the reader and it’s worth less than the Rapper 50 cent.

Idea: Paper Shane your old neighbors if they have a paper in their driveway.
Accuse them of not being green a song being a card carrying liberal.

If they say they love crossroad puzzles and comics- tell them Guswell is dead... even when he was alive driving around yelling at people.

Want to make money off the star? Short their stock. The only place guaranteed to find the soul of the paper is Hades.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Free KC, I’d be curious to meet these legions of people that “love the newspaper.” If that were true, why are sales and subscriptions, both print and online, in the toilet and getting worse every week? You sound a lot like “Go4KC.” Are you a homosexual that has drank the KC koolaid?
