TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY 'TROY SCHULTE WAY' COMING SOON?!?!

Some of our smarter readers send us an interesting item picked from an upcoming Kansas City Parks Board agenda.

Checkit:

"Formal request to add an Honorary Street name as “Troy Schulte Way” to the 400 block of E. 12th Street the City of Kansas City, Missouri."

That's a pretty bold move considering that he's still working along this street, now on the Jackson County side.

Typically this honor is saved for old school locals who are near the end of their lives and not just prolonging their careers at the Courthouse.

As always, we offer a word from AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS who sent this item our way:

"Maybe they should an establish this as an honorary MLK street instead of naming it for Troy Schulte?!?!"

That's A PRETTY DAMN GOOD SUGGESTION considering the central location. 12th & Oak is at the apex of municipal government wherein every resident is mandated equal representation by our Constitution. Moreover, it's near one of the locations of the KCMO MLK riots back in '68.

Either way and because they read this blog . . .

CONSIDERING THE CURRENT CONDITION OF KANSAS CITY ROADS, INFRASTRUCTURE AND FINANCES: DOES FORMER CITY MANAGER TROY SCHULTE DESERVE AN HONORARY STREET?!?

You decide . . .

Comments

  1. Absolutely not. This overestimates his influence and will set a bad precedent for every city employee. Give him a plaque in the 25th floor restroom. That's where he spent most of his time.

  2. More like NO WAY! FOR WHAT?

  3. Schulte can join Bond and Clever on the list of KC "Influencers" who have had shit named for them without having the common courtesy to die first!

  4. Well Cleaver and Bond are just about dead. They already have old ideas and bodies. Schulte still has a good 10 years if his heart doesn't give out from a that weight. He is the least deserving of a street named in his honor. Save our money. Give citizens rebates instead.

  5. How about a street along the old Leeds plant? The decay there more accurately describes his influence on Kansas City.

  6. Is this an early April Fools Day Joke?

  7. I would be inclined to support Troy based upon the assumption that he would be more competent than someone else White might hire. Lets just assume that he was just following orders from the Council in all of the troubling policy decisions that he helped fund...

  8. Troy doesn't deserve an honorary street or that $220,000 from Jackson County.

  9. Given what regularly floats down Brush Creek, renaming it for Schulte is clearly the most appropriate course of action.
The revs need to get on this right away!
Smiley selfies Lucas will be on board in no time.
Will the local TV clowns be there?

  10. Isolate a part of the Swope Park lagoon and name it the Troy Schulte honorary cess pool.

  11. A delegation visited President Truman and informed him that 15th Street was to be renamed in his honor. He said, "Boys, you better wait, I could still mess up big time."

  12. KC continues naming taxpayer funded streets, parks, etc after Demosleazball political hacks.

  13. How about renaming the sewage treatment plant after that ass hole

  14. Declare that homeless camp underneath Beardsley bridge: "Troy Schulte City Park" .

  15. ""Maybe they should an establish this as an honorary MLK street instead of naming it for Troy Schulte?!?!"

Only if Troy sat by and watched his friends and coworkers rape women and gave advice.

    MLK was a rapist.

  17. Does the city name a street after every employee that works for the city for 10 years? Odd at best. Kansas City MO has an issue with hero worship for individuals that are not heroes.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Agree, 6:06pm.

  19. So an incompetent spend-thrift city manager gets a street that everyone can see named after him, but Mayor Kay gets just an obscure ballroom in Bartle Hall?
Schulte should have all the bonds and other debt that it will take the taxpayers decades to pay off named after him.
That way residents will constantly be reminded who helped put them in the mess they're in.

    1. Speaking of bonds and debt, Kay Barnes saddled is with the lousy deal that is Power & Light, the “successful” downtown entertainment district that the City has subsidized since Day 1 and continues to subsidize more than a dozen years later to the tune of nearly $15 million a year. And that doesn’t include the parking garages for Cordish’s apartment buildings. Troy doesn’t deserve a street but Kay sure as hell deserves a lot less. She screwed this town over.

  21. Who, How, Why would anyone suggest such recognition? He didn’t do anything alone, as there were several department directors, council members, former mayor and corporate entities that are equally accountable

    ReplyDelete
  22. ^^^^
Actually NO ONE at KCMO city hall is accountable for much of anything.
    But you're right.
They all are equally to blame.

Q: What do you call the street where police found a passed-out Iowa farmer, behind the wheel of a snowplow, with a 6-pack of Pale Ale on the seat?

    A: Schulte Boulevard!!!

  24. Maybe name it after Ray the snowplow driver that Smiley Q rode along with yesterday
