TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY FIGHTS TO SAVE MLK BLVD 2020!!!

Almost two months after a historic and landslide Kansas City vote to "Save The Paseo" nearly all of the MLK Blvd signs remain intact.

TKC EXCLUSIVE & FIRST NEWS VIA KICK-ASS INSIDERS . . .

KANSAS CITY FAITH LEADERS AND POLITICOS WILL CONTINUE THE FIGHT TO SAVE MLK BLVD IN 2020!!!

National TV embarrassment courtesy of Congressman Cleaver denouncing church protesters was enough to give the City Hall politicos and Parks Board officials a moment of pause and consider the reputation of their city.

To wit . . .

TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! PROTESTERS DEMONSTRATING INSIDE OF A CHURCH & DEFYING MINISTERS WITHIN THE HOUSE OF WORSHIP MIGHT AS WELL HAVE COMMITTED A HATE CRIME GIVEN THE OVERWHELMING DETRIMENT TO THE 'SAVE THE PASEO' CAUSE!!!

You d-bags can try and defend this one but TKC isn't the dood you have to convince.

Instead . . . Members of council, Team Quinton and civic leaders were so enraged by the act of religious incivility that 12th & Oak leaders now have carte blanche to deal with this issue in whatever manner they see fit.

Oh, I'm sorry, did you think that votes really mattered in Kansas City and City Hall is now somehow obligated to follow the dictates of the electorate?

Sorry noob, that's not the way Democracy works in this dirty little town.

Remember . . .

"On Aug. 4, 2017, Kansas City residents passed an ordinance, brought to the city through an initiative petition, that prohibits city officials from moving forward with any streetcar extension without first gaining citywide voter approval. That included any planning or preparation for construction."

Nevertheless, streetcar cash and planning continues to move forward and only the dearth of Federal funding has stalled the toy train.

Need another example??? Clay Chastain is the only guy to win a citywide rail election but Council tore up at least two of his successful ballot initiatives and drove him to sign up with the Republicans in a district that hasn't voted for the GOP since before prohibition.

And so, the Save The Paseo crowd must either pony up money for lawyers or sit by and watch one stupid, stubborn little protest define the group as a hate organization whilst rendering their ballot initiative obsolete.

There's a lot of ways this can work out. Here's a quick preview:

There's word of a Paseo/MLK compromise . . . The Northeast might get a few blocks of The Paseo and then the street would "transition" into MLK Blvd. There are more than a few confusing streets in KC that use this methodology in much the same way that Broadway Blvd turns into J.C. Nichols Parkway for a bit.

And so The Paseo could be "saved" but cut dramatically short . . . As with all things related to politics . . . Eventually this slap fight threatens to come down  to nothing more than a measuring contest.

What we know for sure . . .

THE MLK BLVD SIGNS AREN'T COMING DOWN ANY TIME SOON AND THERE'S A RENEWED PUSH TO KEEP THE TRIBUTE TO THE CIVIL RIGHTS LEADER THANKS TO THE ILL-CONCEIVED FAUX PAS OF BRAZEN PROTESTERS WHO TARGETED A CHURCH!!!

  1. Seems like the save the Paseo crowd would ahve a good cause against city hall. Not following election law is indefensible.

    1. Not if it's invalid. Literally the same thing happened to Clay and he's still fighting city hall over it 10 years later.

    2. Save MLK has a nice ring to it.

Nobody wants the intersection of Truman Road. Northeast can have it.

  2. This will not stand. The signs need to come down ASAP.

Do what the voters told you Mayor Lucas!

  3. 80% of the homicides in KCMO go unsolved and 89% of the victims are black and the "faith leaders" are focused on renaming a street.
It would be hard to find a better example of the upside-down priorities of these clowns and KCMO government in general than this.
Yet another early test for smiley selfies Lucas to see if he's yet found the ability to say NO.
So far in his tenure, not looking so good.

  4. So again the people's vote is not good enough. What the dirty democrat politicians want they get. RIGHT? So lets spend thousands to redo signs and get a named street all in the name of mark your territory black racism. Forget about city blight, crime, outdated waterlines, and other infrastructure, we just need that piss all over everything. Lets be sure and let the anorexic turd and race baiter sharpton piss first. OH and those so called protesters did not interrupt church service! They have blown that up into a LIE! People need to get Cleaver out of office he's NO GOOD!

  5. LOL Does detroit have a mlk blvd?

  6. What was going on inside the church was not a worship session, it was a political rally. It was open to all comers. The people who entered the church in opposition were counter-protesters. So the city council, like leftists everywhere, only acknowledge a first amendment right when they approve of the speaker.

Cleaver embarrassed himself and worse, insulted Kansas City, in his interview with race baiter Al Sharpton. He remains a shoo-in for reelection. That's how screwed up this district is.

  7. Tony is right.

Fascists/Democrat/Bureaucrat small Deep State politicians, here, like in Washington D.C. actually run things.

    1. I knew the Deep State was behind the renaming of The Paseo!!!

Another prime example where the city politicos think they can ignore the vote of the people.

  11. Either the put a duly elected decision in force and change back the name or they go to jail.
    The people have spoken.
Kangaroo city hall people or whomever is holding this up are treason type people.
The Paseo is a tribute to our Spanish brethren and we should not pick one culture over another- this is racist.
Hold these officials accountable and demand their arrest and or ouster!!!
Call the KGB today! Easier... call Hunter or Joe Biden.

  12. Faith in government in KC is quickly eroding. When citizens can't trust their government they won't have any respect for it.

  13. More

  14. Maybe someone could get the KC Star editorial board involved.
People always follow what these brainiacs comment on.
The people buy papers to see how they should vote and think.
The bored are near Menzsa IQ... they have helped the economy and helped Trump get elected.
Of course they say something and people do the opposite.
While the bored people of the Starz are only 30 to 50 points short of Menzsa- these Hollywood-loving-liberal-left-tofu-eating-Volvo-driving-kale-worshipping-Pelosi/Sanders-worshipping SMEs are definitely influencers! Wish they would take the paywall down so everyone could see how to vote.

    How else would we know?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Do the Demoncrats not understand the word no ? Hillary, Al, Clevage, buy a dictionary ass holes.

    ReplyDelete
  16. "Render unto God that which is God's and render unto Caesar that which is Caesers." Caeser has in place a process for changing boulevard names. This process was ignored in a legislative end-around... a process conceived by church leaders. Continuing the planning in a church setting does nothing to mitigate the original sin and to the extent that it dishonors the house of God, it invalidates their complaints about the intrusion.

  17. "Peach fody fi" !

  18. Just name Independence Avenue MLK and be done with it

    ReplyDelete
  19. Now you see why voter turnout is so low anymore. If you bother to go vote the government just ignores your vote or creates an impeachment or some other silly notion if it goes against what the small majority of them want.

You losers are so going to be sorry you allowed Lucas to be elected.

  20. we have a MLK memorial drive in KCK in the the vicinity of the Ks school for the blind, 1th and state ave. -Radish

  21. Impeach the Paseo!!

  22. James Earl Ray deserves a street named after him much more than piece of shit MLK does.

    "MLK Street Signs Matter"

  24. Why do kolored people in charge think they can do what they want? Are they immune from the laws? Maybe the citizens of kc should grow some balls and put an end to these racist nutcases. I’m sick of these crybaby bitches.

  25. I’d hate to see the tax-exempt status of these churches investigated by a Trump-appointed IRS.

    ReplyDelete
  26. ^^^ good thought, is there a hotline for this type of investigation?

    ReplyDelete
  27. ^^^ The IRS won't touch these tax cheats. That would RACIST, don'tcha know.

    Merry Fucking Christmas, whitey.

  28. The people have spoken. Fix it or else. Fuck the Revs, their church and everything else off topic. Get those signs restored now.

Did James Earl Ray Blvd receive many votes ? How about John Wilkes Booth Blvd ? Did you know that the John Wilkes Booth wobbly-head figure is by far the highest selling item at the Gettysburg National Park gift shop ?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Still haven't found out the yearly cash payment to the King family for this?

    ReplyDelete
  31. I bet the city signed a contract to pay the king family grifters whether the street keeps the mlk name or not. The city is that incompetent...detroit lite.

    ReplyDelete
  32. The people have spoken with their votes and god damn you sQuinton and the rest of the greasy bastards on the city council who defy that vote. People should rise up and start removing the signs.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Mayor Lucas!!!!, you better do what the voters told you to do, take down the MLK signs and move on, we have been shit on many times this year and you DO NOT want to feel our wrath at the ballot box on re election! Do the right thing whether you personally agree with it or not! Folks in Hyde park are already starting to turn against you!!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. If Cleaver wants to continue down this road, there will be a parallel campaign to unseat him as a US Congressman. The voters said “no” and that is final. Restore The Paseo name.
