Despite opposition, Bi-State CEO gets OK to negotiate a possible takeover of troubled Loop Trolley

ST. LOUIS - The executive board of Bi-State Development voted Tuesday, despite fierce opposition, to negotiate a possible takeover of the financially strapped Loop Trolley. CEO Taulby Roach pitched operating the trolley for the next four years with nearly $1.1 million left over from federal grants, and said he had preliminary approval from federal transit officials.

  1. Kind of sucks when all that money is stuck following tracks.

  2. The entire city of St Louis is losing. No one wants to go there and no one cares. That city has nothing to offer, and KC is becoming just like it.

  3. The St. Louis delmar loop trolley costed half as much as our silly streetcar, went a little further, and charged a fare. About the same amount of federal cash floated each ($37 mil give or take). Both trolle6 and KC streetcar Each about the same amount of nostalgia & sentimentality it seems... if KC streetcar charged even a nominal fare ridership would plummet to levels similar to ldelmar loop trolley. thanks, radish

  5. Ridership on the streetcar is already low even with it being free. Go downtown and take a look and there's not a whole lot of people on it. They obviously cooking the numbers but no new organization dares call them out
