ROCK CHALK ROASTERIE DUMP!!!

I'm grabbing a gas station cup of coffee right now so this debate might be over my head . . . BUT, the "buy local" contradiction is still important as far as local "creative class" entrepreneur branding is concerned . Checkit:

University of Kansas trades Roasterie for Starbucks

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) - Coffee drinkers at the University of Kansas campus in Lawrence might need to switch from Kansas City-based Roasterie to Starbucks next summer. The university said Wednesday the change was prompted by its contract with Pepsi and coffee drinkers' changing buying patterns, The Lawrence Journal-World reported.

  4. Starbucks has good coffee. And The Roasterie owner is widely regarded as a Costco jumbo pack of douches in a human body. Hard decision for KU.

  5. The owner of starbucks is kind of a douche too, but at least the roasterie guy kept some stuff local. Chances are Starbucks just wrote a bigger check than the roasterie ever could

  6. Anything that is bad for Danny O’Neill and Roasterie, is good for the world. Starbucks is extremely gay, so Lawrence would definitely prefer Starbucks. The more gay something is, the more Lawrence likes it Almost all KU male students are homosexuals.

  7. The Rotisserie cannot keep up now. They are like latte land, or PTs or many many others. Davey ONeill really kicked himself in the gonads.

  8. Oh how I fear to tread into this bastion of spirited debate ... but ... sorry to ruin thread, but Roasterie was replaced only because it is moving to a business plan focused on selling its own bottled beverages, and KU's lucrative Pepsi contract (which a LOT of money into scholarships) gives Pepsi exclusive rights to selling pre-bottled/canned non-alcoholic bevies on campus. No more conspiracy than that.
