  2. If you think logically about this, it is the State of Missouri that should be driving the move to push KCMOPD responsibility back to KCMO. After all, what business does the State of MO have to retain it? What benefit is it to them? They have other huge issues to deal with. A really big fail would fall on them, and a big success would go to KCMO, not them. So get the State of MO on board and let the inevitable happen.

  4. Yeah right. Everything else run by the city is doing so well.

  5. Well the only reason to get control is to control the money, the police budget is out of control and the biggest budget problem is payroll, the popo have an exorbitant amount of highly paid positions that don’t do anything, that’s the only reason the popo will fight this, too many highly paid do nothings that are padding their pockets and retirement. Absolutely take over control of the police for that reason alone.

  6. Kansas City didn't survive the Great Depression because of the Mafia ran Kansas City. Kansas City wasn't as industrialized as the Great Lakes States so there was no massive layoffs like the Company Towns that Ford ran into the ground.

  7. When KCPD can answer 911 calls under 2 minuets instead of 10 and not suck union dick, then maybe local control can come back to order. The fire union sucks democrate small dick - so for citizens anything involved with entities that are OWENED by unions - unless you are a union member, your interests are at the very bottom of their priority list, remember that next time your loved one is in Cardiac arrest (where seconds matter) and you are put on hold for 10 min when calling 911.

  8. It should be voted on by the people. Melissa is a nepotism recipient and she’s just furthering that cause.

  9. Let's be honest here. St. Louis went back to the city a couple of years ago. They seem to be doing fine. Yes, crime is high there and its high in KCMO also... As you see local control versus state makes no difference regarding crime.

City control isn't a death sentence..LAPD..NYPD..Chicago PD are surviving with local control.

A brief history lesson.. In the 90"s Boston/Pittsburgh and Baltimore were placed under the Justice Department for corruption of every facet. Baltimore being the only agency that was state controlled prior to the feds taking over. All three depts are run by their city council appointed Police Board selected by the Council... Not a Governor who doesn't have skin in race.

KC is no better than St.Louis..They both need to be under local control.

  10. The City Council in K.C. knows that for the money and operation they are getting more quality police service and the police staffing levels are still below 1968 levels! Change may be good if something is broken but so far the current police system in K.C.MO. works very well with the amount of money spent!
