No Deal For Lame Downtown Kansas City 'Green Space' Deck Despite Deep Discount

A misguided heavily paved "eco-effort" hasn't raised much cash or interest beyond a few development fanboys. However, here's just a bit of chummy media coverage for a mostly defunct blog from a newspaper "journalist" who now mostly serves as a mouthpiece for developers and downtown boosters angling to get more taxpayer cash . . . 1. How long would the "green" have to do it's thing to equal out the carbon footprint to build and maintain it ? Net loss to the environment like many of these solar powered green dreams. Nothing is clean or free.

  2. Just another KCMO municipal "investment" that wouldn't be maintained and would be left to become a dumping ground and place for the homeless to hang out.
Unbelievable that these same people can keep coming up with the next BIG THING, when the basic needs of the city's residents are so numerous and their being ignored by the electeds so stark.
    Playing with other people's money.
Meanwhile, maybe clear the streets of snow and patch the potholes.

  3. A waste of time and resources. That money could be better spent in investing on the Eastside. People already can’t drive on 670. They’re constantly in the wrong lane for where they need to go; and for some reason can’t figure out what a safe lane change looks like. Covering this stretch of highway would be disastrous. It just isn’t something Kansas City needs or wants. This should be voted on by the people. And if so, it will fail.

"So as you walk down Truman, you have Two Light, Three Light, Four Light and then the Waddell & Reed site and the convention hotel across from that," he said. "In a really exciting scenario, you build a park over Interstate 670, and you create this amazing boulevard around Truman Road."

  5. This gets proposed every couple of years and then every realizes it's fucking retarded and a waste of money when we don't even have functioning schools, safe streets, paved streets for that matter, a viable sewer system, A wornall road that has been under construction for the last two decades. The list goes on but there's "free" buses and a $150 million streetcar

  7. I think this is a great idea and long overdue.

  8. This is the worst idea yet. If these so-called big-shots want this that bad, they should pay for it themselves.
