Clay County commissioners continue to appeal ruling to restore $1 million to sheriff's budget

Two Clay County commissioners remain silent on why they are appealing two court rulings demanding they restore nearly $1 million to the Clay County Sheriff's budget to pay for inmates' food and medical care.Commissioners Gene Owen and Luann Ridgeway have not responded to requests for comment about why they continue to appeal the decisions by the Missouri Western District Court of Appeals and a circuit court judge.On Monday, the appeals court turned down the commissioners' request to transfer the case to the Missouri Supreme Court.

  3. Hope the Judge issues an arrest warrant for these two for Contempt Of Court, I'll bet Sheriff Vescovo wouldn't have any problem executing it.

  4. OK, not feeding inmates is indefensible...BUT...

    Simple fact is that anywhere upwards from 25% of those being held should be out on ROR bonds. Lots of folks are being held solely to force them to plead guilty -- regardless of whether the State can make a case.
