Historic parish a 'place to come home to'

By Marty Denzer Catholic Key Associate Editor KANSAS CITY- Many of the founders of this city embraced the Catholic faith, especially French, Irish and German men and women in the years between 1845 and 1900. Around midcentury, German families began leaving their homeland amid an economic depression and growing anti-Catholic sentiment.

  5. The Catholic Church appears to be majestic. But its a portal to hell. Mary worshipped as a idol is blasphemy and will get you a life sentence in hell. She was jewish, a human, and died like any other human. She couldn't even care for herself. Christ on the cross asked someone to care for her after he died. She can do nothing for you (priests the same). Do not be deceived. Ignorance is no excuse. Many "nice Catholics" will never see heaven.

  6. The Romans who killed Christ started the Roman Catholic church - cause they couldn't wipe out such a huge number of believers and saw a way to get revenue / money from selling indulgences etc. So it was a money making deal. Not to turn off the many Jewish people - they made Mary a partial God to be worshipped. It was a cunning way to control the populations of both religions of the lands they occupied and it worked! It closely followed the framework for the true Holy Bible for a little while....its easier to counterfeit a religion, a much more believable, at a time when people couldn't read. But now it a odd cult, or sex perverts and money grabbers!

    11:51 grow up!

You're a Protestant because Henry VIII wanted a divorce. Theology had nothing to do with it.

Try living in the age of reason for a while.

  9. The Catholic church is actually the "true Christian religion" MERGED and tainted with all the pagan religions that existed during Emperor Constantine's rein. Constantine won a huge battle after his vision which provoked him to paint crosses on his army's shields. He then declared Christianity as his religion and forced all pagans to enter it - however to entice the pagans, they could incorporate all their pagan rituals into Christianity to keep them happy. So smoke, idols, ritual chants, gold, jewels, rings, saints, worship of dead saints bodies, fancy caps, robes, staffs, paying of money to redeem souls, candles, ownership of large tracts of land by the church became part of the catholic church. Its was all a political move to unite and control all the factions in the Roman empire. If you asked God about it - I he would be furious! After all God killed 70,000 Jews for worshipping a small gold cow idol, withheld their entry into the promise land for 40 years, and made them wonder aimlessly in the desert. Think what God will do to punish all the gobbly goop of rht catholic church - including Priests who claim they can forgive your sins OR prayers to Mary who is a dead jewish woman whos bones lie in the dust of Israel in a unmarked grave. God's wrath will punish anyone who follows the catholic church - as its a direct insult to God's position as creator and ruler. Catholic priests will be in the hottest portion of hell, as punishment for leading millions to hell with them.

  10. I wouldnt worry about virgin birth, just a simple way for God to arrive here. Thats all. Had God just suddenly appeared as a grown man, in the temple, with no know relatives - people would have claimed he was a demon and never followed him. Better to have a regular entry into the world. Birthrights meant alot back then. Virgin birth does not mean Mary was special in any way. She had no control over it. God could have choosen someone else you know. She didnt remain a virgin as christ had brothers. Mary was just an accepted delivery method of that era.

  11. Funny thing is catholic try to "work their way" to heaven by being good. If not good enough for heaven, or bad enough for hell -the catholics purge their sins in purgatory (its is named after the word "purge"). Now if people can do it themselves - "be good and go to heaven", well then why didn't God just drop off the 10 commandments and say "be good and you go to heaven/bad and its hell" - see you all later? I know Catholics that can't even get a promotion at work, or wake up at 6am, or lose weight -yet they think they can work their way to heaven (the most exclusive place in the universe)? What a lie.

Instead God sent prophets to foretell Christ's arrival and state all the things he would do thousands of years in advance, sent Christ, had him fulfill all the predictions, let him preach and die for your sins, then resurrected him, let him be seen by thousands, and then he stated how he would return to judge those that had no faith in him. Your saved by simple faith. Not anything you do.

  12. The catholic religion reminds me of a knock off or imitation of the real thing. But its more sinister. Cause its like a glass of water thats 99% pure, but has 1% cyanide. Looks ok, but it will kill you. The 1% is hard for people to see, or they check their minds at the front door and don't bother to think about the 1% being there. They take the "wide road" that looks correct but it doesn't lead their souls to where they think they are going. However with the recent revelations of priests raping on a major scale- any catholic should flee the church. Would the true church of God have that problem - NO! God would never allow that in his church. But in a fake church -yes!
