KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Local groups argue the metro is riddled with absentee landlords and unsafe apartments. And surprisingly, many landlords FOX4 met with don't disagree. But they argue the Tenants Bill of Rights could just drive up prices for everyone.

I was served notice today by certified mail that my rent will be going up by $150 starting Feb 1, 2020. Thanks all you fucking non rent paying fuckers for causing this to happen.

Get rid of the shady California Companies that are buying up houses in the Northeast area of the city that are being used for meth houses. Because of these slimy California people polluting our city innocent landlords have to pay for it. Take a look at the section 8 on Armour! Do you think those people have a landlord? NO their landlord lives on the East coast.

How close does a landlord have to live to the rental property to avoid being classed as "absentee"? And if the East or West Coast landlord uses a local management company, is it still an "absentee" landlord?

"Absentee landlord" is just a buzz phrase repeated over and over, without a commonly understood meaning.

The landlords provide a service, at a fee. The issues isn't who outnumbers whom in the discussions. The "gutting" is a function of correcting the language of the ordinance after the fact. Write a better ordinance and the issue would be resolved. I rent and the owners have indicated a desire to cease the business of landlord. Not overjoyed with the idea of the improvements to follow to entice future buyers of the property.
