LIBERTY, MO (KCTV) - A man who told police how he planned and carried out the murder of his estranged wife in 2016 has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus another 40 years. Larry Ratliff, a 70-year-old from Grain Valley, was convicted in September of first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City will now have to come up with some new ideas on where to house its city inmates. One location currently housing Kansas City jail inmates, Heartland Behavioral Health, won't be part of the plan in the future. One reason for that is because the center lost its insurance coverage.

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) - A federal jury has convicted a Raytown man of drug trafficking and illegally possessing firearms. Victor Rodriguez Kessel, a 63-year-old from Cuba, was found guilty of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and crack cocaine, attempting to manufacture crack cocaine, possessing crack cocaine with the intent to distribute, possessing cocaine with the intent to distribute, possessing marijuana with the intent to distribute, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
