KANSAS CITY PERSON OF THE YEAR 2019: ERIN LANGHOFER

The shooting death of Erin Langhofer marked a turning point in Kansas City history.

The gunfire tragedy focused attention on longstanding problems that extend beyond the Kansas City, Missouri Crossroads and across the nation.

Her death inspired attention to the proliferation of ILLEGAL GUNS and the very real danger they pose to the innocent.

Urban core complaints over the inordinate amount of coverage her death received once again exposed the divisive and often mean-spirited American discourse.

The killing ended years of Kansas City First Friday artsy tradition in the Crossroads and paused the so-called "momentum" of downtown development. The aftermath of the deadly shooting demonstrates that not even hundreds of millions dedicated to corporate welfare tax breaks can sustain the central city if public safety is not a top concern.

A photo of suspects in the shooting sent by KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS earned our TKC blog community recognition from news outlets across Kansas City.

A new hope for 2020 . . .

The death of Erin Langhofer revealed that the spate of killing in Kansas City, Missouri isn't just an inner-city problem, it's an issue that impacts the entire metro. Among the best people in Kansas City, the horrific, tragic and devastating shooting death of this remarkable young woman showed us that innocent lives are at stake amid the local cycle of violence and this ongoing crisis deserves our attention, concern and dedication above all else.

6:11, no one has ever said that.

But, of all of the deaths, Tony highlights the pretty white girl.

Black Lives Matter because All Lives Matter.

It was always Black Lives Matter, Too.

    1. Fuck you, you are a race baiting cuck who would sit and applaud an underprivileged "youth" raping and murdering in the name of diversity to put in place your soul selling agenda.

    2. Black Lives Dont Matter to Planned Parenthood...they eliminate more Black Lives every month than the KKK has in its entire existence.

  7. RIP, Erin. You’re gone way before your time. At least you made your short life on earth count.

  8. Byron - Do you have any black people shooting into crowds in your Southern white enclave where you preach the benefits of diversity from? I didn't think so...

  10. Bryon needs to clean up his states of West Virginia. The latest class of correction officers were fired for giving a Nazi salute in their group photo. Nice to know Bryon lives in the only Nazi state in the country.

  13. I really think the star or the pitch should have written something like this. We need to think about the consequences of every murder in KC. The Call should have written something about the homicide victims on the East side.

We take murder too casually in Kansas City. EVERYONE must do better,.

When elected leaders like Sly, Cleaver, White and Forte have little interest in stopping shootings in Black Community, what can the rest of us do?

    Good call, TKC.

  17. If black people don’t care enough to stop shooting children then why should we? bLIEron always always always fails to remember that it’s not a white people problem, it’s the murderous blacks who are the problem.

White people care when a kolored murders an innocent white, her picture is there because she was an outstanding person. Koloreds only care when it affects their ability to collect free gubmint money, otherwise....

  18. People have been killing each other since the first 2 sons were born. Able and Cain. The very first "family". It will never change. Ever. Forget about stopping crime. its in our blood.

  20. 6:54 ^^ Black lives matter ? Then why are they always responsible for the majority of the murders ? Why are they the majority of victims ? Because Black lives Don't matter to their own People , instead we false blame the very minute minority of Blacks killed by Police. Because that was the diversion tactic sold by a previous administration. Why lie about it and continue make it yet another faux cause that really does not address the real problem. Notice the addition of Children killed by stray bullets. Cops do that ? Whites ? Asians ? Jews ? Catholics ? Seattle sanitation workers? Wichita Bowling League ? Legal gun owners ? Star wars Jedi warriors ? OR again majority blacks embracing Gangster thug life bullshit based on crime and illegal drugs ? Where have you ever seen a cry for Asians ? People from Europe ? People from India? You won't.

  21. Unfortunately, the only consequence of this young lady's senseless death was that the food trucks were removed from Crossroads First Fridays because guns don't kill people, food trucks kill people and that's so Kansas City.

  22. ^^^^ wrong, blacks kill if it’s with a gun, a knife, cars, chicken bones.......

  23. The family of Erin Langhofer gathered for Christmas this holiday season but to say it was a happy one is rather doubtful.

Erin was off to enjoy a night of fun in her hometown area and ended up lying dead in it's streets of gunshots resulting from two people who clearly had no respectful social skills or control of their emotions. They were the product of being raised to hate all that is good and to strike out at all who diss them. These shooters have no clue what turn the other cheek means nor do they care who dies in their attempts to deal out some sort of street justice. They think walking the streets carrying a gun makes them a man and gives them street juice. In all reality it simply makes them a punk and the type of person society can do with out. It's this idiotic mentality that is ruining not only Kansas City but large cities all over this country. This is a cultural issue and until society as a whole steps up and recognizes it as such families such as the Langhofers will have to endure through what should be happy times by suffering the loss of a love one.

  24. Do a story on the unsolved black-on-white hate crimes of Jonathan Porter, Jeffery McDonald, and Harry Stone.

  25. She really is the person of the year and perhaps person of the last several years. She represents everything this city is about, including how the story has been ignored since it happened because it's racist to claim that blacks murder whites at a disproportionate rate. Sort of like the Molly tibbetts thing, except Erin's family understands the world better than Molly's

  26. Sadly she will not be the last law abiding, good citizen that is murdered for no real reason. It sounds odd, but at least she wasnt the real target of the shooter, she was just in the general area, it could have hit any number of people. But an ordinary older guy jogging down a main street a few years ago was targeted directly by people in a car and shot dead cause they wanted to test a gun out on someone. Her family understands and has probably preached on evil in the world and is able to deal with her death better as a result. But more of us, including readers of this blog are destined to die by murder. get a trust (not a will), burial plan or insurance and be ready!
