Kansas City Dr. Sketchy's Retirement

Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School is both a burlesque cabaret and life drawing event originating in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

The Kansas City effort was championed by local artist and aerial performer Rachel McMeachin who helped forge one of the most welcoming and creative regular gatherings in the metro.

The event helped TKC (slightly) improve photo techniques and talk to more than a few interesting local characters.

Here's their latest announcement:

"Due to circumstances beyond our control we are sad to announce that Dr. Sketchy KC will be going into retirement. We are hopeful that we might be able to resume at some point in the future but at this current time our west bottoms home is no longer available to host these events. After 12 years of your continued support we’d like to invite you to our last (for the foreseeable future) event this coming Sunday Dec. 1st. Come help us celebrate all that we’ve done together and keep your fingers crossed we can resolve the setback we’ve endured this past month."

No matter what happens, we want to take a moment to credit Rachel McMeachin and her friends for their service to local creatives and their inclusive work that brought the Kansas City artistic community closer together.
