KANSAS CITY ARTS COMMUNITY HELPS CREATIVE COUPLE KEEP THEIR HOME!!!

Special thanks to readers who sent this nice, local arts news and inspiration our way . . .

"TKC, a well known couple have worked in Kansas City for years as artists, actors and entertainers. They were facing foreclosure and in two or three days have raised nearly $10,000 from friends to avoid losing their home. It's kind of like that Christmas movie, "It's a Wonderful Life!"

We've admired the work of Annie Cherry & Damian over the years and their story of creative-class friends coming to the rescue just in time for the holidays is inspiring.

Check the link and some of the nice notes and messages from fellow Kansas City creatives . . .

Please Help Us Keep Our Home!

Still, this is TKC so there is a dark side to the story . . . In much the same way the GoFundMe crowdfunding can't really fix a broken healthcare system . . . As local property taxes continue to rise we can expect more of these desperate pleas for help from locals who just can't pay for the cost of housing that's not so affordable after all.

  1. Good for them. Not every place in KC is a dump like this blog. There are a lot of nice people in this cowtown who want to help their community and the people who need a hand.

When you choose in life an occupation that can't pay your bills the smart move is to find a job that can. But from looks of the pictures they are posting they waste a lot of the money they have earned in decorating the house and it's outside over putting back for a rainy day.

I hope all of you who donated money understand you really didn't help these folks, you only taught then that poor financial responsibilities is good and friends with handouts is even better. I say in a year or less they will be in trouble again as they will waste this money on something other than putting to good use.

  7. If they can't afford their house today, and nothing in their lives change, they will not be able to afford their house tomorrow. Better sell it and buy or rent something more affordable.

On a side note, if these people are so well known how come I have never heard of them? Reminds me of that fellow Craig Glazer who thought everyone knew and liked him when in the end he checked out broke and more or less alone. Someone in the past said and I can't remember who, but if you have to remind people all the time you are famous or well known you can't be to well known to begin with.

  9. I'm glad people are helping but they really do need to be more responsible. The person who said if they can't manage this house today they won't be able to tomorrow is dead on the money. It's a lifestyle change that's needed and it does not seem likely that will happen due to human nature

  10. lawyers go broke too.

There are plenty of people with "real" jobs who also have money problems. Sounds to me like a lot of people here are living off government social security checks and calling everyone else lazy.
