The KCMO murder total for last year was 138. We continue the tragic homicide "momentum" with this afternoon killing and move closer to the 153 all-time Kansas City killing record despite recent advances in social justice legislation.

Kansas City police investigate city's 141st homicide
KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -- Police are investigating the city's latest homicide Friday afternoon. Officers were called about 1:30 p.m. to East 40th and Olive streets. The victim's identity has not been released. There's no immediate suspect information. This is the city's 141st recorded homicide of the year.

ReplyDeleteKCMO ALONE has almost half the number of homicides as New York City, which has a population over 17 times as large.
Considering murders in the entire metro would barely move the needle of the totals.
And the vast majority of the KCMO murders continue to be within an approximately sixty square block area.
Being honest about identifying the problem, its location, and the demographic of the vast majority of the perpetrators is the first step in seriously addressing it.
And that has yet to take place.
