Jackson County Payment Prank Pulled

Possibly one of the best protest ideas we've seen was recently foiled by courthouse officials who are now confronted by a bevy of angry taxpayers who aren't quite as playful with their rhetorical push back . . . Checkit:

KC woman's plan to pay property taxes in nickels gets foiled, but new plan hatched

KANSAS CITY, Mo -- A Midtown woman who planned to get the attention of county administrators has lost a battle in what she calls a war with Jackson County. In November, FOX4 first told you about Cynthia Lockett's plan to pay her property tax in nickels.

  1. A more productive approach would just be to pay under protest. File a complaint with the Missouri Appraisal Board against Gail Beatty’s Missouri Appraisal License. Contact the State Senator who is championing this cause and legislation to make County Executive an exclusively elected position, with term limits; and the same with the County Assessor’s Director. This is how you get even. Pennies and nickle payments isn’t clever and hasn’t been since it was done decades ago. This is a useless and meaningless stunt and the County promptly put an end to it.

  2. I have to agree paying in nickles is not the way to fight this thing, that's just acting like a child. I can't believe she doesn't know how to fight this, it might be long and stressful or she might not get anywhere unless someone does something about the corruption but there is a way to fight and it's not with nickles. Unless she wants to use the nickles together with a sling shot.

  6. @7:03, if you owned a fucking thing you'd understand her outrage, but since you're you, try to imagine how somebody who's now on welfare and actually pays taxes feels about this crap!

  8. Offer to sell your property to frank white at 80% of the appraised value. When he says no, ask why he wouldn't want to make some quick easy money?!?

  9. She always pays her taxes a year late anyway. Look it up.

  12. Isn't it illegal to deny someone payment if they're paying it with US currency? I believe she could take this to court and win

  13. Jackson County, accept US Money or waive her taxes!
"Inconvenience" to you is not a valid excuse for not doing your jobs!

    1. The only inconvenience is that most of the yard apes that work for Jackson county can only count in denominations of 1,pay in pennies instead
