Blogging Kansas City Star Dead-Tree Corporate Journalism Regrets

This missive from one of the many former newspaper dudes offering freebie content on the local Internets is worth consideration if only because it offers a personal look at horrible financial decisions confronting local scribes. Still, hype for low-rent newspaper content forgets that TV, community news and even radio have more than filled in the local "news hole" (ew) as the daily newspaper transitions into a non-profit lobbying effort for old school progressives . . . Has anyone noticed that The Star has had some really outstanding stories lately? Among others... :: The five-part series on Missouri's underfunded and beaten-down public defender system. :: The co-opting of Independence Mayor Eileen Ware and other Independence City Council members by companies that sought, and got, multi-million-dollar contracts for projects either dubious or overpriced....

  3. Jimmy should acknowledge that the left wing agenda of the Star and the blind support of inane and corrupt pols like Sly, Cleaver and Sanders has destroyed the credibility of a once great paper.
    Helling created the myth of Sly the savior. Kraske promoted Sanders as the next Harry Truman.
    Sad.
