HUD investigating Independence complex's ban on holiday yard displays

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. -- An Independence senior housing complex is under investigation by the Trump administration for what the Liberty Counsel calls a ban on Christmas lights. MACO Management Company, which oversees Grandview Estates, disputes the claim. It says it has never banned Christmas lights, but is taking steps to make sure no religion is offended.

  1. Check to see if Jews own those apartments. If they do, punish them as much as the law allows.

  2. BULL this was an act against Christianity. BTW Why do these anti Christians celebrate Christmas anyway? Most people hate Christians but yet you celebrate Christmas. What are you celebrating? Funny how we have public law 414 against muslims but people argue that that law was changed to allow them into our country, when the law WAS NOT CHANGED, but there's an attack on Christians. Gee I never saw a Christian fly a plane into a building in the name of JESUS.

  5. This issue is starting to show up here and there in closely grouped housing such as this. It's a hard path to walk because management doesn't want one resident being overbearing on another. When it comes to Christmas what one person loves two more will hate. Management groups have to have some sort of control over what can be placed in a yard and the front of living areas but that control is such a fine gray line at times at what is allowable. The company I am a part of has a ruling on outside decorations that lights on the bushes in front of your place are okay long as cords don't create a trip hazard. But no larger items can be placed in the grassy yard areas or upon the sidewalks as they are semi deemed public areas and since it's a senior housing group the grass areas are very small and to light up any such decorations would require and extension cord being laid over a sidewalk which creates a possible trip hazard. Rules on decorating does not always reflect hatred by the management or owners but simply need to eliminate a possible trip hazard which would result in a lawsuit being filed for allowing an unsafe condition to take place.

  11. What is ironic here is that the decorations and current celebrations and Christmas itself is the most NON Christian practice in recent history with no biblical support whatsoever.

So this cannot realistically be against Christians or any Christian practice but if against anything would be against the secular commercial enterprise it has definitely become.
