Would You Pay 6 Bucks A Month For Downtown Kansas City Developer Hype?!?

Most of these stories are DIRECTLY from notes and press releases of developers and we've noticed that public radio is curbing this kind of "reporting" because it's so obviously sponsored content garbage with only a few disclaimers to break the illusion.

The premise . . .

"For $6 per month (the price of a craft beer or latté) you’ll be able to continue to enjoy the daily stories produced by CityScene about your greater downtown community."

Frankly, I'd rather have the coffee and/or beer than pay developers for their PR and one or two measly posts a day.

Nevertheless and because TKC is a nice guy . . . Here's the "news" that just more downtown cheer-leading that's clearly having trouble paying for itself.

CityScene KC Shifts to Paid Subscription Dec. 2

I hope you've enjoyed CityScene KC since it was launched 2 1/2 years ago with the mission to be the community news source for greater downtown. We've covered the big stuff such as the new Loews convention hotel, Strata office tower and multiple apartment projects, and street-level reports about new micro-breweries and retail shops, and even problems with dog owners not cleaning up after their pets.

  3. Since all they seem to do is pimp Council giveaways to Developers, are they presently supported by our tax dollars?

You're probably already paying $6 or $7 for it, and just don't know it.

  6. This will only exacerbate the information gap between the wealthy and the poor. Is being poor a crime? Then why is stealing criminal?

Everything should be free, otherwise poor people are at a disadvantage.

    (See what I did there).
