Troy Takes On Jackson County Troubles

We talked about this political move earlier in the week and now here's "public" radio news follow-up catching up to the conversation:

Longtime Kansas City Manager About To Wade Into Jackson County's Issues

There is no doubt Jackson County has some monumental, vexing problems. The county jail is in desperate need of being replaced. The downtown courthouse needs to be renovated after flooding earlier this year. And the property reassessment process is a mess, with appeals that will stretch into 2020.

  4. Putting Fat Boy in here is like putting Al Capone in charge of law enforcement.

  5. “This is the perfect time for him to come in," Legislature Chair Theresa Galvin said. “I think he’ll help us get past a lot of issues that we’ve had.”

OMG is she serious? Is she really this stupid and ignorant?

  8. Welcome to Jackson County - Lovely Hyde Park

Last week while mowing my yard in the evening the son of the person across the street pulled out a pistol and started shooting at another car, I ran inside the house. As I was clearly feet away. He jumped in the car and sped out after the other car. The police showed up moments later asking for anyone that saw anything to make a statement. I did. They told me the described suspect was on parole and couldn’t possess a firearm. Neighbors have been worried since because there are children playing in the street. Tonight I’m out and my neighbor sends me a message that they finally got him, he was back at his moms house (same location) and there was a domestic violence incident with his girlfriend where he pulled out a rifle and the police found another pistol on him. They had him in the back of the squad car and I felt relieved, only to get a message minutes later that they let him go...kidding right?

  9. At least it was an open hiring process with a national search conducted to find the best person for the job. Oh wait...

  10. So I was just looking at Jackson counties budget and they expect an increase in property taxes from 15 million to 30 million, but wait there’s more, they expect an increase of personal property taxes from 27 million to 48 million, I said it earlier that you all need to pay attention to your personal property taxes as well, these crooks are trying every dirty trick in the books.

DOUBLING UP ON TAX INCREASES ALL AROUND......... WOW.

  11. By looking at the picture, it appears Schulte needs to address his serious case of dandruff before tackling Jackson County's problems. All I want for Christmas is my potholes filled. Oh wait, we have to write taxpayer checks to Clark Hunt and David Glass before the potholes can be filled.

Seriously, what service does Jackson County provide? Roads look like German cities after American B-29 Super-fortress raids. No street lighting, no sanitation services, no water, no law enforcement; seems like we don't need county government.

  12. 7:37 and that’s just under Frankie boys watch.

  13. The idea that Schulte will be playing a role in "fixing" the problems in Jackson County government is a terrible joke.
Actually, it won't be at all long before Schulte BECOMES another problem for Jackson County.
With these clowns, why take a chance that a new hire could turn out to be both incompetent and corrupt when you can hire a sure thing from right across the street.
    Just unbelievable!

  14. KC can’t secure there inmates or fix the roads or potholes and pick up the trash on time, jackson county will only get worse sad very Sad

  15. if he does Franks job, why do we need Frank and his 150k salary, no county in us has a county manager and county executive what a waste of our tax dollars

  16. The Jackson County Legislature bought the "Pig", and soon they'll find out what its like to feel a "Poke"!

    ReplyDelete
  17. 9:00 Exactly. Between Frank, his chief of staff and now a county administrator/manager, we are talking about a half-million dollars for three people. Why are electing a county executive if we got to hire others to do the job?

    ReplyDelete
  18. 9:40 franks budget went from half a million dollars a year to 1.2 million a year, where is it all going and why does he need twice as much money as last year? Makes you wonder doesn’t it.

  19. GAWD NOOOOOO! Just go back to Iowa. Kansas City has had enough of this transplant. Go the fuck home!
