The sketchy endeavor was always VAPORWARE and its management during the Exec Frank White EPOCH has been increasingly haphazard and incompetent . . . Here's an inevitability and today's behind the scenes hint that the Feds are taking notice and getting ready for a busy holiday season that sadly will include quite a bit of door knocking without the x-mas caroling. Checkit:
Jackson County ordered to cease all construction on Rock Island Trail
Jackson County has been ordered to stop all construction along the Rock Island trail corridor after it was dealt a major blow in a legal battle this summer. The Surface Transportation Board ruled this week that continued construction of the trail by the county is impermissible after stripping the county's rights to the property in August. In 2016, Jackson County purchased the Rock Island rail line that runs 17.7 miles from Lee's Summit to the Truman Sports Complex from Union Pacific for $52 million.
I was always bemused that the streetcar dorks got the hell out of dodge when the saw how sketchy this really was.
ReplyDeleteWas there ever even a reason not to do the abandonment rails to trails instead of the sketchy way it was done. Was the 55Million used at kickbacks and payoffs to friends, donors and families?....Will indictments follow?
ReplyDeleteOnce again, the guy "in charge" of this project for the last 4 years was none other than kick-back Calvin Williford. Who knows what he did.
ReplyDeleteThe adjoining landowners just got a place to store old cars, build a swimming pool, whatever the hell they want cause they own the land now thanks to the county.
ReplyDeleteGod-damned waste of $52M. We could have fixed every single pothole in the County for 10 years. Instead, we've got a useless stretch of old track. Fucking idiot politicians and county managers.
ReplyDeleteMIKE SANDERS/FRANK WHITE FUBAR RAILROAD
ReplyDeleteSanders went to prison for unrelated political corruption. He's training to be a welder.
White took a financial bailout from Ken McClain to save his house from the Courthouse steps auction, and has presided over major dysfunction (jail, downtown courthouse, property reappraisal, etc.).
Now, they're seriously considering hiring KCMO City Manager Troy Schulte to operate a County Ponzi scheme.
Only the Feds can save Jackson County at this point.
Jeez Jackson county could fuck up a wet dream. Keep burning money and convincing hipsters it's a cool place to live. What a bunch of dummies!!
ReplyDeleteThis deal was done when Joe Reardon was head of the ATA! Now he is head of the KC Chamber, at $500,000 a year!!! Ask Joe Reardon how he screwed this up!!!!
