TKC MUST SEE!!! SHAWNEE MISSION TEACHERS SHOW & TELL SUPERINTENDENT'S $300K+ SALARY!!!

Teachers in Shawnee continue their struggle, here's one of their best recent missives about control of the narrative with an EPIC cash call out . . .

Check out how much our Superintendent makes compared to other districts. Check out how much other districts have increased their compensation in the last 10 years compared to SMSD.

"Here's the deal . . . We can tell the story of an overpaid superintendent who came from a tiny district and is in way over his head and is getting paid way too much to muck up the lives of all of the amazing district employees. We can tell the story of a board who is sticking their heads in the sand in order to ignore a multitude of evidence that there is room in the budget to reduce class sizes and workloads by using one small data set. We have tried really hard to avoid making this personal. But we can. Dr. Fulton doesn't know how personal we can get. The board should know, but maybe they've forgotten."

Kansas data proof . . .

You decide . . .

  1. Teachers in the SMSD are well paid for the actual time they do work. They get kick ass vacation time huge break at Christmas alone. If the weather is bad outside they can be late for work because classes have been called off. Hundreds of thousands of people have to work more hours 50 weeks out of the year for the same amount of money. Teacher education is one of the easier and cheaper educations to get. I agree the SMSD head honcho is extremely overrated and overpaid but that is no reason to over pay the teachers. I can't understand why certain idiots tasked with teaching our kids take a job that they know going in about how much they will make in salary but then immediately start bitching about what they make. They think teaching in the SMSD is a bitch tell them there are openings in the KCPS where they can get a real reality check of how good they had it.

  2. Teachers work 24/7! 24 hours a week -7 months a year.

  3. teachers in general should be paid more, imho.

  4. Well consider this... Teachers don't deserve a massive pay increase because they get paid 12 months of the year and have a defined pension plan that most parents don't have, most taxpayers don't have. They also get a lot of time off and anymore the false pretense is that they spend a lot of their own money on school supplies. The district gives them all they need to have, they just want more in supplies. Several companies also have "backpack" give aways and we have winter coat give aways and free lunches. Now we have washers and dryers in schools so parents can send their kids to school dirty and we can pay to clean them up for the lazy jagoffs.
Teachers and the KNEA were part of the lawsuit that has caused the taxpayers of Kansas to get hit with over $500 Million in increased school funding by the state, don't forget that little gem, that right there is over $2 Million per district. Teachers walk around with Union provided red shirts to get support for their cause, those should be banned on school property 24/7/365. Also the Superintendent, while overpaid, is not paid what Olathe and Blue Valley pay theirs so what?
I'll tell you who should get the pay raise this contract - Custodians that is who! And maybe we should get better results from the children too.

  5. Ugh. The language used is so typical of union-speak. I always am disapointed that our educators belong to organizations that sound like 1920’s teamsters.

  6. Wow, the CEO of the SMSD makes about 5x the average salaried employee. That's quite the scandal. ZZZzzzzz.....

So when do we get the equivalent private sector outrage article? Sprint's CEO made $6.5 million last year. That's about 185x the average employee.

SMSD only produces the next generation of employees for the area. The whole education sector is underpaid compared to what they are responsible for and produce.
