TKC MUST SEE!!! KC TENANTS ORGANIZE EPIC TURNOUT TO WIN KANSAS CITY RENTER 'BILL OF RIGHTS' THIS WEEK!!!

We're attempting to be as objective as possible and give voice to BOTH sides on this issue. However, more than anything we owe it to our blog community to give an accurate assessment of the situation and which side is winning the policy debate . . .
Behind the scenes there's an effort to temper and gut the legislation but still offer some sort of win for this enthusiastic crew. Nevertheless . . .
THERE'S NO DENYING THAT KC TENANTS HAVE MOMENTUM AND ENTHUSIASM ON THEIR SIDE IN THE FIGHT FOR THE LOCAL RENTER BILL OF RIGHTS!!!
The landlords/home providers shot themselves in the foot by skimping out on representation and PR to cope with the onslaught.
Just a bit of inspiration from KC Tenants . . .
"The future belongs to those who prepare for it today."
"The opposition organizes from a place of fear and scarcity. We organize from place of joy and abundance. What they have in money, access, and privilege... we have in people power and vision for a better world.
"We're preparing for a future where all of us have safe, healthy, truly affordable homes. We're preparing for a future where we can all be free."
Their latest call to action . . .
"Housing Committee held our KC Tenants Bill of Rights proposal till next week's committee meeting. We showed up big this week, but now we gotta be even stronger. Come ready to win!"
You decide . . .
They're doing the right thing. All of KC should support them, the improvements they're making will help everyone!
ReplyDeleteMAYBE.
DeleteBut they're also going to raise everyone's rent!
This is bad news. They really should wait a couple months before voting on this. No one had heard about this "movement" until two weeks ago. Also, a court will quickly strike this down if anyone challenges it
ReplyDeleteThey're doing the right thing. All of KC should support them, the improvements they're making will help everyone!
ReplyDeleteLMAO right uh huh your obviously dumber then they are.
I'm not renting to anyone connected to, affiliated with, or a supporter of KC Tenants.
ReplyDeleteGo ahead make my day. Arrest me.
I've been a small landlord in Kansas City for the past 16 years and I know several others as well. None of us wants to evict a tenant. It's expensive in both time and money and frequently results in damages beyond wear and tear.
ReplyDeleteThe principal reasons for eviction are lack of payment and creating an environment making it difficult, if not impossible, for other tenants to live safely and in peace.
If I can give a bit of free advice to the tenants' rights crowd it would be pay your rent and don't infringe upon your neighbors' rights. If you cannot pay your rent, tell your landlord sooner than later. You may be able to qualify for assistance of some sort. But if you let it go to the point of eviction, it's probably too late.
ReplyDelete"We're preparing for a future where we can all be free"
should read "We're preparing for a future where everything is free"
Liz Warren 2020!
While I don't disagree that these nebulous landlords are cheap, they've been in a lose lose. There are no activist landlord groups while there are "fair housing" (i.e. free housing) groups on every corner. So are a handful of landlords going to go out and get a PR firm to come in and help? hahahahaha, no. Can you imagine how they'd split hairs on that bill? "Well, YOU have 6 ~ $80k, 10 ~ $30k and 2 ~ $100k residences, I only have 12 ~ $30k so I should pay less" and on and on. In the end, I suppose it passes with the prog SJWs that run KCMO. Landlords will figure out mo sneaky ways to screen tenants. Require online app submittal and have someone do private background checks, if they don't make the cut, say I'm soooo sorry, it literally just this second got rented out to someone else who submitted minutes before you did.
ReplyDeleteHope @4:24's Mommy starts asking him to turn over part of his "Disability Check" to her each month.
ReplyDeleteFree Shit Army assemble!!
ReplyDelete3. Tenants have the right to affordable heat and air conditioning that meets energy efficiency standards.
ReplyDeleteLMAO sure wouldn't everybody?
This ordinance is the most fucked up piece of work yet I've seen come out of City Hall.
LOL
They have my full support.
ReplyDeleteI would really like to know how many of that crowd has a court judgment or currently has a case pending for failure to pay or damages to a property. Bailed on high utility bills at a place because they didn't understand or ignored the fact that energy efficiency is something one controls with a thermostat more often than not.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure everyone on this chat can lay down cash on a house when their kids go to college. If you can't lay down cash on another house then why are you defending MAC Properties? You might be working for them and getting paid to check on TKC for updates on the story and respond with a comment. There were a lot of property owners and employees at the last KC Tenants hearing so it's only the out of town property owners left out of the loop. At that time they did a search and found LandLordsInc.Com. Now that they have lawyers on the ground they've countered the argument that the City and State Regulation on the books need removed. On the other hand, KC Tenants offers a plan to reduce homelessness for school children, the disabled and homeless people saving million for the Jackson County Health Department and Public Schools. LandLordsInc.com needs to come up with a plan to take their profits and cover the cost to the Health Department and School District.
ReplyDeleteLOL very funny 5:57
ReplyDeleteYou should get into comedy
They have my full support.
ReplyDeleteDo you own property in KCMO?
You're a racist Super Dave, why don't you just pull a quote "The Bell Curve" or "Race and Mortality"? Or was just a rhetorical question?
ReplyDeleteSorry. Your rents going way up to cover the property tax assessments.
ReplyDeleteDeal with it.
"The opposition organizes from a place of fear and scarcity. We organize from place of joy and abundance."
ReplyDeleteLMAO okey dokey
"Truly affordable housing."
ReplyDeleteGood luck finding that here in Killer Shitty.
Way to go 6:06 you just had to make it a race issue like Cleaver did with the Paseo vote. I agree with Dave if you're a credit risk piss on you I ain't renting to you.
ReplyDelete"We're preparing for a future where we can all be free."
ReplyDeleteWhats that supposed to mean?
Structural Racism is as original to Kansas City as JC Sloan's "Red Lining". Jim Crow Era was fascism. Super Dave struck the low blow.
ReplyDelete@6:20PM Haven't you heard it means it's 'A Revolution'. A Revolution under Bernie and AOC's with George Soros backing and help from the Progressive Democratic Party. Thru the back door from the Top down and Bottom Up Progressives.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteThese people don't know what they are doing. They are cutting their own throats. Landlords will leave and others will raise the rent sky high. What idiots.
Can't live for free. All these people are going to be homeless soon. This is the Venezuela model of political "success."
ReplyDelete6:33 what low blow? There something here I didn't see? You one of those jerks who can't stand seeing the truth? Fuck you and the horse you rode in on. I hope all those who own rental property here put their places on the market to sell so you can take your low blow along with lack of housing and stick it where the sun don't shine you racist pig. The Paseo being named after King lost and so will this pile of horseshit.
ReplyDeleteAs a landlord I should be able to ensure the safety of my other tenants. Should I not want to rent to convicted felons I should not be required to. I own my business and own my property. I don’t accept government assistance and do not rent to others that do. It is my right. The courts have ruled that private business owners are not required to make cakes I shouldn’t be required to place my investments or tenants at risk.
ReplyDeleteLike it or not this will end up in court and this liberal garbage won’t survive judicial review.
Is that you Mary Sanchez? That's the same thing you were saying on Week In Review last week. You said property owners were contacting her and just hearing about this and this was the next Paseo. The laws are already on the books for fair housing on the city and state level. MAC Properties and the other rental chains have their own brand of socialism of the rich. I'm sure this causes a butt hurt like your horse fetish.
ReplyDeleteStructural Racism WTF is that crap?
ReplyDeleteNo where in any Federal Laws including California does it make it discrimination to not rent to someone who obviously can't afford to make the payments. Or to a person who has a past history of not being able to meet the financial obligations of renting a place. It like this you hate filled idiots, if you only make eight hundred dollars a month you can't afford to live in a place that costs seven hundred and fifty dollars a month unless you have roommates to share the costs. You jerks are not using a lick of common sense here. I bet the city don't put half the crap on this demand list in effect. Not unless they want one lawsuit after another.
"They have momentum and enthusiasm!"
ReplyDeleteNow all that's needed is some serious analysis, meaningful discussions, the addition of some statistics and facts, and a consideration of any unintended consequences and this latest band of "activists" might actually produce a proposal of some value.
But in KCMO it's just the latest example of the inmates running the asylum.
As the cowardly electeds hide under the desks in their offices.
Lucas and this current gang already have a whole lot of footprints on their backs and they've been in office just a couple months.
It's going to be a very long four years for KCMO residents.
If a landlord can't collect rent on time or get rid of troublesome tenants, he'd be ahead to just doze the place flat and turn it into a paid parking lot.
ReplyDeleteYou might win this battles of nerves, but you have already lost the war!!!
ReplyDeleteLucas better have a huge fund set aside if they pass all these demands into laws. I don't see how a city can force a person to rent to someone if the manor of which the property is rented isn't in violation of any fair housing laws. If the city was smart they would keep tabling this issue and tabling it forever. Hopefully smarter minds will prevail in the end and the taxpayers are not held up for ransom in payouts over lost court battles and lose they will.
ReplyDeleteLet the pump and dump begin.
ReplyDeleteMy place is off market and will stay there; I will not list it for rent, will just wait for word of mouth to get to a nice tenant that will take care of it; never again will I rent to these idiots!
