TKC MUST SEE!!! CELEBRATE THE NEW VISIT KC APPOINTEES!!!

Almost think that the slap fight over TIF appointments was a distraction from this far more interesting list and a resolution sponsored by Mayor Quinton Lucas which contains some family ties , rewards for council allies and NEXTGEN tourism players . . .

Ordinance #190931: Consenting to the appointments of Teresa Loar, Kevin O’Neill, Melissa Robinson, Rodney Bland, Mike Cappo, Allen Dietrich, Nia Richardson, Kris Riddell, Maria Salcedo, and Lylette Uts and the reappointments of Kevin Pistilli and Riccardo Lucas to the board of directors of the Kansas City Conventions and Visitors Association doing business as Visit KC.

Nevertheless, we hope that these new appointees have what it takes to clean up this sketchy organization which has consistently "EXAGGERATED" tourism numbers, engaged in mindless boosterism AND maintained quite a few sketchy biz connections.

As always, Kansas City voters hope for a change from the old boss to the new . . .

You decide . . .

    1. ^^^^ Sure you would. But that number is closer than you think because this isn't still the 70s. Weird.

    2. THe only thing weird is that lucas doesn't know many people who work as professionals in the tourism industry to actually help KC.

There ware all just political appointments without much expertise.

  2. Probably worth some free trips, perks, and other benies for these folks, all on someone else's dime.
That's what "public service" in KCMO is all about, after all.
How much does this organization cost the taxpayers, again?
    Momentum!

  5. Yep, definitely nobody with any acumen or understanding of tourism under this appointment. Just friends... the circle of friends network at play here.

  6. 25 million is a real number, IF you accept their methodology. Every vehicle that traverses through the city limits, including daily work commuters who simply drive through town on their way from the northern suburbs to JoCo and vice versa, are counted in the 25m tourism number... and the BS methodology is counterproductive. When you regularly spout a number that is multiples higher than much larger and more heavily visited cities, no one believes anything else you say.
