TKC MUST SEE!!! BROOKSIDE ROBBERY VICTIM BEGS FOR HIS LIFE BUT BRAZEN KANSAS CITY CROOK SHOOTS HIM ANYWAY AMID BRUTAL FRONT PORCH HEIST!!!
Tonight we bring together a host of Kansas City troubles all represented equally in this terrifying clip.
Here's the sitch:
"The suspect robbed the victim at gunpoint as he was walking home in the 5200 block of Brookside Boulevard. After the victim gave the suspect his backpack and phone, the suspect shot the victim once. Call 816-474-TIPS if you know who this is."
A few things to consider . . .
- Pedestrian and bike advocates talk a big game against cars but often ignore more serious threats to public safety on local streets. Danger from traffic should be addressed but local walkers are often unaware of the rising rate of KCMO violence which confronts them at every turn.
- This local encounter was captured on the new KCPD "Busted" page. It's a worthwhile effort but it's also unclear if social media shaming will help with community outreach.
- Finally, this crime isn't taking place in an urban core wasteland . . . Every house on this block is valued at nearly HALF-A-MILLION BUCKS and rising thanks to Jackson County property taxes. There's a myth that urban core violence doesn't impact the rest of the city or affect other goals like walk-ability or urban density. Meanwhile, this brutal gunfire robbery offers an important fact check against continued "momentum" and "vibrancy" rhetoric which downplays the impact of local crime and its effect on Kansas City progress.
And so, considering all that and more . . . Take a look:
