TKC MUST SEE!!! BEFORE THE ELECTION KANSAS CITY MAYOR QUINTON LUCAS HOPED TO PLAY PEACEMAKER BETWIXT MLK BLVD & SAVE THE PASEO!!! INSTEAD HE HAS BEEN MOSTLY SILENT!!!

Check his socials and notice that Mayor Quinton Lucas has been far more supportive of the Kansas City Chiefs than his ordinance to create MLK Blvd.

Now . . .

FOX4 MORNING ANCHOR MARK ALFORD REPOSTS AN INTERVIEW WITH MR. LUCAS BEFORE THE ELECTION WHEREIN THE FUTURE MAYOR IMAGINES GETTING BOTH SIDES TOGETHER AND TALKING OUT STREET NAMING DIFFERENCES!!! SADLY, THAT NEVER HAPPENED!!!

In the clip future "Mayor Q" offers a detail about how his ordinance came about and a glimpse at some of his thinking about the legislative process. Watch the interview in full and it's clear that he's way more excited about other facets of the job.

Take a look at the MLK excerpt apropos for tomorrow's big vote:

  1. Smart for him to play quiet. Don't think he could impact the vote one way or another.

    1. ^^^^ It's his ordinance. I wonder why nobody has asked him about it during the lead up to the campaign?

    2. ^^^^ Maybe because it's a low turn out vote. Genius.

  2. #1 reason I did NOT vote for Lucas... he has no backbone.

  3. REMEMBER THIS11/4/19, 1:21 PM

    Vote NO Against MLK!

    1. Actually, it's no against the Paseo!

    2. ^^^^ I'm confused.

How do I vote for Kamala Davis?

  4. He obviously has not been silent since he was the writer and sponsor of the original ordinance and he showed up to the rally last night. Still no backbone for fairness and equality. Vote Yes to change the name back.

    1. Since the election he hasn't said a word about it that seems pretty sound to me. Plus I'm going to be laughing when all you save the Paseo losers have to lower your head and admit defeat and that you're stupid little ordinance was inspired by nothing but your own foolish racism.

  5. Quinton was smart to avoid this issue after he was finished with it. Nobody ever said he was supposed to be the MLK leader. The revs are doing a pretty good job of that themselves. This is really Cleaver's deal

  6. Lucas knows what a terrible precedent it was in making the decision the way it was done.
But he doesn't have the guts to even make a statement.
And he knows very well if he came out in favor of going back to "Paseo", the revs would follow him all the way to Lawrence to embarrass and intimidate him.
So that's how decisions in KCMO will continue to be made.
Threats, screaming about "racism", behind-the scenes, intimidation, payoffs, and all the rest.
Big decisions, small decisions, it really doesn't matter.
    It never changes.

  7. Too late for the chickenshit homo Quinton to stay silent. He is the one who lead this through the counsel.

  8. This is what you get when you don't vote wisely. Of course in this particular case it was Lucas or Justus....wow, what a big difference that was, a wise vote would have eliminated both of them BEFRORE the runoff. Now we are stuck with a do nothing mayor for another 4 years, then, we repeat this fiasco! Some things NEVER change and KC voters are the prime example, pitiful!!!

  9. Quinton's a wuss plain and simple

  10. Listen up, jabbers.

Q led this process. Neighborhoods along the Paseo were well aware of the back door dealing, attempts to slide the change in under the guise of East Side redevelopment, etc, etc. There were calls, meetings, emails, and letters from every neighborhoods association and neighborhood leader who felt strongly for and against the change. The Northeast News and my own neighborhood group polled and found that those in opposition were consistently 80%+. I think we all felt that given the controversy from all interested parties, that at the very least Paseo residents would get to vote on it. But, despite being WELL AWARE that opposition was massive, City Council members, especially most of those who were running for mayor, believed that no one would have the audacity to try and put that change to a vote to all KCMO residents by initiative petition. Read back though Tony's blog. He said it himself. And as the petition was finalized and signatures were beginning to be collected, Tony's and his "insiders" belittled the campaign and insisted it was just a few white folk from Northeast. Well folks, just you wait. Mayor Quentin isn't getting involved because he knows what the numbers are. He knew he was betting against his constituents. And now his constituents are PISSED. Because if he and city council will pull this when they know 85% oppose them, what else might they try? Tomorrow's renaming of the Paseo is a rebuke to all public servants who lose their way, a rebuke to the Lucas legacy, and a win for fairness for all KCMO residents, regardless of race or ethnicity. Save the Paseo can only hope that the Mayor and City Council have the sense to have a fair and open process to decide once and for all how we should honor the great Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

  11. Was that interview in his home? It looks so tastefully decorated.

  12. Good to see local wannabe Manny Abarca destroy himself over this issue. He has come to the conclusion that anyone white who wants to keep the Paseo name is racist, and anyone black who wants to keep the name should be ignored.

    1. Manny isn't even from the Northeast. He just saw it as a political stepping stone because it has brown voters.

  13. I'm surprised Manny got involved at all. I mean, he can't put it on his resume and he couldn't drink...what gives?

  14. Yep a do nothing mayor what's new. Come on grow a backbone Lucas. BTW Wasn't he right in there trying to push it through under the table???

    ReplyDelete
  15. A lot of what 2:29 says is correct. What concerns me here is if the vote is in favor of keeping The Paseo then will the city go along with what the voters want or ignore it as they have done on things in the past? Lucas is being rather smug on the issue, too smug in my opinion. Face it politicians hate to be proven wrong and being forced to do what they don't want to do. No glory for them when they don't get their way.
Holding a political rally in a church to me was the wrong move in the first place and elected officials should not have been there.

  16. Mayor McDrinkerson sure is good at smiling and taking selfies. Yessir, he's the smilingest selfie taking Mayor I ever did hear tell of!

  17. Take note this is not going to be a vote to keep the name Paseo. That name was changed to ...(too long to type). The vote is to change the name back to the Paseo. The vote is YES to change back. Is this correct? Just want to make sure.

  18. Manny is turning into KC's #1 race hustler. I see him telling some of the city's most liberal voices to dry their "white tears" and check their "white privilege".

  19. Vote Yes to change if back to paseo

  20. VOTE YES TO CHANGE IT BACK TO THE PASEO!

  21. Just heard on KMBC 9, it is YES to change back to Paseo or NO to keep MLK Jr. Hope that clears it up for everyone.

Maybe Tony can do an exclusive interview with Sylvester.
