TKC MUST READ!!! JACKSON COUNTY PROPERTY TAX ASSESSMENT CRISIS TIPPING POINT SNEAK PEEK!!!

Really great read from The Pitch this morning puts this onoging crisis in the PERFECT PERSPECTIVE as middle-class families now must think about downsizing amid a PAPERWORK-NIGHTMARE and stonewalling from Exec Frank White's Administration.

It's a worthwhile long form read that brings us up to date and looks at the impact of Jackson County courthouse incompetence throughout the city. Checkit:

The Jackson County assessment debacle is likely about to get worse

Boley has found wild inconsistencies in valuations along Troost Avenue. // Photo by Zach Bauman. The email from the Jackson County Assessment Department was oddly cheerful, considering it came bearing bad news. "Greetings!" it began. It went on to inform Kansas City resident Christian Cochran that the county had been willing to lower his property tax assessment, which Cochran believed...

  1. The complete failure and incompetence at Jackson county is outrageous, this just proves how stupid the idea is of putting black people in charge of anything. Don’t agree? We nevar had these problems when white people are in charge now do we.

  2. Homeowners are contesting high assessments by detailing the defects in their homes. I wonder whether this information will be publicly available to potential buyers of the home in the future. If so, it should affect the sale price considerably.

  3. Well renters are clueless as to what is coming also. Does anyone really think they will stick around when the rent doubles next year because of this shit hole of a wreck?

  4. My personal property taxes on two twelve-year-old cars went up to almost $218 from the $56 I paid last year. Why?

  11. I'm not appealing my increase which is bad at all because the county officials scare me and might make it even worse if I show up to appeal.

Anyway good luck to those fighting this and standing up to these fookers!

    You got my full support!

  12. I submitted an informal appeal in late June and have never heard back. I guess they just think if they blow off people who can't afford to follow up with estimates of repairs they will just accept their fucked up numbers. I have no idea how any member of the county legislation is going to be able to show their face around town. A whole lot of taxpayers are going to have a shitty Christmas this year and its all their fault.

  13. 9:31 when I was researching Jackson counties 2019 budget, property taxes doubled from 15 million to 30 million dollars and personal property taxes go from 27 million to 48 million, that’s an increase of 36 million dollars Frankie boy expects us to make up, all at once right, easy peasy, man we all must have money buried in the backyard that’ll cover all his pipe dreams. The level of incompetence is staggering.

They’ve been working on this budget since 2018 and everybody at Jackson county knew what was going on, that’s why nobody wants to say or do anything because they all signed off on it.

  14. There was an increase in the budget of $79,752,658 over the 2018 budget, frank white and his cronies have bigger plans to rip people off outside of property and personal tax increases, what else went up that we don’t know about??? His fuzzy math has to make up for an additional 40 million.

That’s more than a 20% increase in the budget that we taxpayers are supposed to make up for. That’s a big hit peoples yearly income.

  15. Boley, the gadfly is at it again. Acting like she knows all about everything and sticking her nose in everyone's business. Her home's been undervalued for years, so now she's bitching when it comes time to pay the piper. Sit down and shut your smug mouth. You're one on the reasons people leave Hyde Park with a bad taste in their mouth, selling their houses for more money which raised your property value.

  17. This is taking money out of the Local economy. Not just a long time Burger Bar on the Plaza will go out of Business. The County And City wants more and more of your money.

  18. The idiocy of Boley and wasted time spent on reports for a neighborhood that went from run down apartment houses to single family 3500 sq ft to 4000 sq ft homes is ludicrous to think those homes were over assessed. Think again Boley! You were way under assessed and still are. As for Troost that is under gentrification. Get a clue and get a life Boley!
