KANSAS CITY MURDER #135 BOOSTS THE HOMICIDE COUNT PACE AHEAD OF THE 26 YEAR RECORD FOR LOCAL KILLING!!!
The highest KCMO total for murders was set back in 1993, at the height of killings fueled by crack cocaine and gangs.
In 2017 the murder count nearly broke the record with 151 murders documented.
It deserves to be mentioned that since that time the murder counting methodology has been switched up to comply with FBI crime reporting standards.
At this date on the calendar back in 2017 KCMO counted only 133 killings . . . So we're two victims ahead of that pace. Meanwhile, local streets become increasingly dangerous and the rate of killing typically ramps up as the holidays approach given more opportunities for domestic drama and increased end-of-year financial pressure.
