Sign Of the Times: Kansas City School Shooting Life Lessons Offered

We can debate solutions, causes and impact but there's no denying the uptick in American mass shooting amid the proliferation of guns in modern day life. Don't get it twisted, TKC supports and loves the 2nd Amendment and cautions critics of gun rights that disarming law abiding citizens won't make them safer.

How Kansas City-Area Schools Prepare For The Worst: An Active Shooter

The massacre at Columbine High School in April 1999 wasn't the first mass shooting in a U.S. school. But at the time, the 13 deaths and more than 20 injuries were the worst in history. Since then, the country's 11 most deadly school shootings have claimed more than 125 lives.

  1. KCUR needs to learn a little about history. Columbine wasn't the worst shooting or the first mass killing on American soil that resulted in the deaths of a large number of children. In fact the total schools shootings that have taken place pale in comparison to past history of mass killings of children.

But we all know at KCUR it is never about the facts it's about making you see it their way.

  2. "Since then,(1999) the country's 11 most deadly school shootings have claimed more than 125 lives."

If the above excerpt is accurate, perhaps some perspective is needed. As terrible as a child being killed at school is, 125 lives in a country of 330 Million, over a 20 year span, suggests the odds are very slim.

On the other hand, if you live in Kansas City, we kill that many folks almost every year.

Don't misunderstand me. Every school killing is abhorrent, and efforts to prevent future occurrences is valid.

Just some additional perspective. Opioids deaths are numbered in the thousands, and vaping related fatalities are on the rise and will out-pace school shootings in short order. Just sayin'.

Tony defends the Second Amendment, but not the Fourth. He refuses to acknowledge that women have a constitutional right to an abortion, calling it murder, while refusing to acknowledge that gun owners are killers.

" ... proliferation of guns in modern day life."

Only a retard would think that's a good thing.

Guns don't kill people, gun owners kill people. Society needs to be protected from these psychopaths.

Oh, yeah, fuck you, 11:34. You're just another retarded coward.

  7. KCUR stated "But at the time, the 13 deaths and more than 20 injuries were the worst in history."
Evidently they have not heard of or they fail to acknowledge Wounded Knee and it was orchestrated by the federal government.
