Restoring Kansas City MLK Park

Kansas City group looking to restore park named in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City voters overwhelmingly approved the decision to revert Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard back to the Paseo on Tuesday. Now, people are looking at ways to honor the civil rights icon with more than a street.

  2. Clean it up, put in a decent playground made out of inflammable material and have some bullet proof walls here and there to dive behind for safety, call them graffiti boards.

  5. They need to work on "restoring " the black community. All most are noticing is the 126 murders this year.

  6. This is a much better use of time and you dont have to lobby politicians to do it, just show that you can financially fund this and it can happen without controversy.

Do not involve Black preachers purportedly lobby, speak, demand, or shakedown politicians on behalf of Blackness. While you may believe MLK was God, he wasn't and citizens should be able to decide how we choose to or not to honor him. Thats how democracy works.

  7. Just think, what if Quinton Lucas would have proposed to upgrade the MKLjr. park back in January instead of changing the name of The Paseo. He could have put over $100,000 into the park instead of new signs for the street which are now not useful.

  8. Bob FTW. It would have made so much more sense to have gone this route from the beginning.
