Mayor Q Copes With Kansas City Cray

One of the better ideas coming from the latest town hall is a hint about offering better mental health services for Kansas City head cases and crisis situations that often cause so much local violence . . . Take a look:

Mayor Lucas wants funding routed to trauma and mental health services

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - "You should be able to not have to have gunshots waking you up, or being a soundtrack of your life," Mayor Quinton Lucas told a crowd at his first Town Hall on Saturday. Lucas calls public safety in Kansas City his paramount concern.

  1. Is that why he goes to Lawrence all the time? So he won’t wake up to gunshots? In Lawrence he woke up to a cop knocking on his car window.

Quinton explains to the media that when a man with a rifle made it past security at City Hall, he was able to negotiate the situation to a stand-off!!!

  3. Make up your mind Q. Either you want incentives for office towers or you want to fund mental health and emergency rooms. You can't have it both ways

  4. I AGREE THAT KANSAS CITY HAS A MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS. I DISAGREE THAT FUNDING THERAPIST WILL AID IN THE RESOLUTION OF THAT. EMOTIONAL HEALTH IS CREATED DURING THE REARING YEARS AND IT CAN WANE DURING ADULTHOOD DUE TO DIFFERENT EXPERIENCES BUT PSYCHOLOGY IS LARGELY JUST FAIRY DUST. IT’S WHY PRISONS DON’T REALLY DO MUCH WITH MENTAL HEALTH - THEY JUST DOPE YOU UP AND LEAVE YOU FOR DEAD.

I DON’T KNOW WHAT THE SOLUTION IS.

BEING ENTITLED TO JUSTICE WOULD HELP - AND IN SOME CIRCUMSTANCES JUSTICE IS SO INEFFECTIVE THAT IT USUALLY IS FUTILE.

WE GOTTA TRY TO TREAT PEOPLE BETTER.

  5. If he makes believe that he thinks that providing taxpayer-funded mental health programs is going to decrease the homicide rate in the city, he needs to state clearly that those services will be concentrated in the urban core and have preference for a minority of a minority population.
Whatever the next irrelevant "solution" to the "gun violence" is proposed, at least try to start by honestly defining the problem.
Four years of "town hall meetings" isn't going to accomplish much of anything.
Except maybe, "What are you going to run for next?".
    Sad.

  6. It starts at home with the mothers and others who see something and say NOTHING.

Doesn't take $$ to see the factual truth of the crime in KC. It just takes WILL. The will of those who see criminal behavior and speak up.

    Mothers
    others
    ministers
    preachers
    barbers
    beauticians
    hair weavers
    Mothers in Charge
    Aim for Peace
Alvin Brooks and his friends know who the criminals are
COMBAT and those affiliated with them

It goes on and on. No need to spend more money on the obvious problem
