KANSAS CITY TAXPAYER SUBSIDIZED DOWNTOWN THREE LIGHT LUXURY APARTMENTS COMING SOON?!?

Here's a glimpse at KCMO corporate welfare continued . . . This isn't so much "news" as it is a threat and a challenge to the current administration. More deets for subscribers at the link but let's not forget that this sketchy proposal might soon be up for debate . . . Take a look:

Three Light price, units increase ahead of 2020 construction start - Kansas City Business Journal

Work on Three Light, the third of four towers Cordish Cos. has planned for downtown #KC, is now set to start sometime early next year. The delay is a result of design changes that will increase the tower's number of units by 22 and its cost by $20 million.

  3. If KCMO is going to give incentives for more apartment buildings like this, why not put one on the Plaza? Most rental options there are either very outdated or in small, suburban-style buildings.

  4. Developers are just robbing this city at will.

  5. ^^^^^
It's really not robbery when the developers and their attorneys are led by the hand into the city treasury by the KCMO electeds, who have already unlocked the safe and supplied plenty of large bags.
And that's followed by the hope of some bucks ending up in specified campaign accounts.
You might even call it a quid pro quo!
    Frosty!

  8. What the city needs is heavily subsidized and abated luxury dwellings downtown, and a eleven percent sales tax from all the CIDs and overlays LOL these geniuses really got us on the right path.

    Thanks,

  9. Maybe one day businesses will start moving back downtown too. It at least makes somewhat sense to subsidize that

  10. Problem is, young pretty Johnson County girls move into these places downtown to be cool and fashionable and don't realize the danger they are in. There are a lot more career criminals who perform rapes in the downtown area than in affluent Johnson County. They are victims waiting to happen. And you don't hear about these rapes, they are covered up. Years ago, a woman was grabbed by guys in a van, taken to a plaza underground parking garage and raped repeatedly. It never made the news, even when she finally ran out into the busy street and a crowd stopped to help her. Women beware.
