A tweet from the Mayor DOWNPLAYS HIS OWN LEGISLATION and role in this ongoing MLK Blvd drama that only our blog and a few others called him out on amid this stunning defeat last night . . .
"I know Kansas City to be a welcoming and diverse community and today’s vote does not change that. This ballot measure should remind all of us in City Hall that the way we do things matters ... We must continue to legislate by bringing people together, seeking input from those with different perspectives and working to consensus-build on the issues that matter most to our community."
-Mayor Q
Reminder . . .
THIS WAS HIS LEGISLATION, HIS ORDINANCE, MAYOR QUINTON'S PLAN THAT WAS REJECTED!!!
When he notes "we must" . . . Residents can only hope he's talking about the council.
Accordingly . . .
"Fox4 morning anchor Mark Alford notes that Mayor Lucas will be live on our 7am show Wednesday morning to try to heal the divide the vote has caused."
Update: Here's his interview for those who haven't seen it yet:
Mayor Quinton Lucas weighs in on voters’ decision to change MLK Jr. Blvd. back to The Paseo
Developing . . .
Be fair now TKC.
ReplyDeleteJermaine reed initialed somewhere near the bottom of the page.
It's going to be hilarious watching the national media run with this. They'll no doubt forget to mention the vote percentage, or the racial demographics of the affected area.
ReplyDeleteNever let pesky details get in the way of a good, faux-racism story
ReplyDeleteYes this has turned out to be a bogus racial issue and Mayor Lucas washed his hands of it after it became clear Kansas Citians were getting a raw deal with changing the name of The Paseo. Now Lucas wants to act like he had nothing to do with it. What a coward!
Now that the great citizens of KCMO have settled the Paseo name fiasco the city needs to focus on getting the Paseo marked for bike lanes. So much winning and momentum.
ReplyDeleteNo amount of BS will heal this divide until these so-called reverends who spout hate and divisiveness are turned away from people’s hearts!
ReplyDeleteAll members of the former Council who are still in office are trying to keep their heads down.
ReplyDeleteLook at Katherine Shields - she was beaming in the photo taken after the bogus vote to change the name to MLK, but since then she's been cowering behind Phil C. as a front for any comments or futile attempts to justify her misfeasance.
He is just your average lying sack of political shit.
ReplyDeleteThere is no divide. The few people who voted were reacting to a council that didn't follow the rules on changing a street name. I doubt that anyone would object to an MLK Blvd., but few people like having things forced down their throats.
ReplyDelete"I know Kansas City to be a welcoming and diverse community"
ReplyDeleteNo it is not welcoming who are you trying to kid with that bullshit.
Fox 4?
ReplyDeleteOMG Fox is gunna heal da city
LOL
Selfies, "appearances", TV statements, running to the front of every "activist" group, ponderous pronouncements.
ReplyDeleteBut Lucas is really mostly about bobbing and weaving, playing both sides against the middle, making believe he supports one thing or another, but never actually taking a stand, and 'losing, losing, losing.
The great majority of KCMO electeds get jerked around by one little insider group or another, but few have been had so publicly and so early in their term as Lucas.
It's going to be a very very long four years for KCMO taxpayers.
Frank White and Gail Beatty are going to heal the city.
ReplyDeleteLyin Sly, Lyin Lucas...
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the Shit Hole of Midwest
What a fucking joke Quinton Lucus is! Build consensus....? He let East Patrol move forward, orchistrated this entire name change with legislation he authored knowing full well there was no consensus or buy-in from the community. He is as suspect as the fat Black Revs.
ReplyDeleteWill mayor mcdrinkerson blame whitey for this embarrassing disaster? The fat fake lyin cheatin crooked revs are so he must obey his masters right?
ReplyDeleteManny Abarca should never sniff public office after this. He pulled the race card more than anyone out there.
ReplyDeleteMark and Abby are gunna' heal the city. Watch Fox Newz today.
ReplyDeleteOh bu the way there is a 42 acre park named after MLK no one ever uses just east of da plaz.
ReplyDeleteWhy not turn it into MLK Amusement Park? City could even extend the toy choo choo train to it.
If getting shot at MLK Park is your idea of fun, go for it. Maybe you'll do the world a favor and die.
DeleteWell look at the bright side of living here everyone's fraudulent property tax bills will be arriving in a couple weeks just in time for the Holidays.
ReplyDeleteOMG the peoples of clown suit city won big time! This is Huuuuuuuuge!
ReplyDeleteLMAO
7:05 Like I said Abby and Mark and Lauren (Faux Newz) will have healed the city of this horror by approximately lunch time.
ReplyDeleteWhite people, appalled by the obfuscation of the burg's conduction, have forsaken the unpermissive predilections of the black ecclesiastics and acquiesced to the desiderate of the electorate.
ReplyDeleteLet freedom ring!
Lyin Sly, Lyin Lucas, Lyin Frank, Lyin Gail..
ReplyDeleteRelax the city and county is in able hands! The best and finest leadership available!
Maybe that gay from crossroads who rigs those mail in elections can get a streetcar put in on The Paseo. Call it the MLK free ride express!
ReplyDeleteDamn Chuck, love your comments but keep in mind most of us have a very limited vocabulary. Half the commenters (myelf included) can hardly form a cognitive thought then have great hardship transfering that to written form. Your understanding of this would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.
ReplyDeleteAnyone catch Tweety Bird Q on Faux Newz?
ReplyDeleteDid we miss something important!
What does Frank White and Gail Beatty think. We can trust their expert knowledge of what is going on at any given minute.
ReplyDeleteTweety Q may recommend we all slurp barbecue for lunch, with beers before going back to the offices to perform sober high quality work. If your a data reader-analyst with zero contact with reality have four beers. Have fun right? Forget the problems! Ride the toy train! Watch sum ball!
ReplyDeleteAccording to the grifter revs....White privilige is now making your elected leaders follow the law.
ReplyDeleteI vote every fucking time and the Chastain street car vote and subsequent brushoff by the council back then still pisses me off.
^^^ Your getting a streetcar extension to UMKC and there is nothing you can do about it. And your paying for it so shad ap!
ReplyDelete7:47... Crystal Williams.. "if I had the power, would have fixed this damned mess months ago. I am so over men with power refusing to admit mistakes and fixing them. Pure ego. Hang in there."
ReplyDeleteThat help any?
What does Jon Stephens and his motley crew of grafters at Port KC think? Can they put a ferry boat on wheels running up and down the Paseo?
ReplyDeleteHow to fix KCMO/JAXCO problems:
ReplyDeleteExtend Streetcar to UMKC.
Put Bike Lanes down the middle of the streetcar track, remove all other bike lanes.
Name Streetcar line and Bike Lanes Combo after MLK jr.
Build new jail over the streetcar and Bike lane combo.
Put Frank's new office and Gayle's new office in the new jail.
Have a space for Q's new office there too.
Hold hearings to remove Reverends titles and offer them accommodations in new jail.
Build Council chambers, city and county, in the new Jail.
Use old Jail for criminals that are not politicians.
Mark Alford is one of the folks who CREATED the race issue in the first place....anything for a buck or a rating!
ReplyDeleteMark who. ?
ReplyDeleteOf course a media type sets up a strawman. Gotta get the ratings to sell the ads, and boring (truthful) news doesn't sell like the inflammatory does. 'Heal the divide'...STFU. What a hack. Journalists are the worst.
ReplyDeleteWill q go to the media and tell them that he and his merry band of misfits created this mess and that it was illegal what they did and save our reputation or will he continue to let the media call us a racist city because he and his followers are cowards???
ReplyDeleteRemember people, Lukass and his people damaged kc’s reputation, and they alone need to fix it, not us.
ReplyDeleteGive him a break. He did 14 interviews today and took it in the rear. I mean they really pounded him in the ass and he took it like a champ.
ReplyDeleteNow that the Paseo has been saved, we can get back to saving Armour Blvd and Armour Rd from Eric Bunch and Bike/Walk KC! He will probably play the millennial card!
