Greater Kansas City Chamber Offers Urban Tribute Amid Ongoing Corporate Patronage

The agenda of the Chamber has been mostly destructive toward the urban core and neighborhoods throughout the Kansas City metro. Their tax & spend tactics have consistently directed taxpayer cash toward big biz welfare and away from infrastructure, schools and libraries.

However, branding mini-moives offer another image that's unchallenged by local media.

First example . . .

"Missouri-based mural artist Sike and Kansas-based mural artist JT collaborated with Plexpod and the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce on two special murals for the Chamber’s 132nd Annual Dinner, November 26, 2019. One mural is located at Plexpod’s River Market location on Delaware, and the other at Plexpod’s Lenexa location on Marshall Drive. They represent the strength, unity, and connection of #GreaterKC."

Regionalism is just one of many questionable ideas touted by The Chamber.

This week an honor for KC Legend Mr. Brooks also worked to bolster the inner city connections of the elite organization which, in reality, has few urban affiliations beyond similar public relations efforts.

I'm sure that the chamber of Detroit has these kind of marketing efforts leading up to their bankruptcy, during it and after it.

It was a good effort but ignored by everyone including his own community.

  6. Now that DST Systems has pulled all support for downtown KCMO its going to really decline. The top executive took their millions in options and chased out. Sold out to a east coast firm that's going to move it all away. Sold out for money. Couldn't have sold to a local firm?

  7. All the same names and faces... i am no supporter of Al Brooks. There are prostitutes whove been selling their bodies their entire lives but their not being rewarded as Kansas Citian of the year. The video shows no evidence of anything hes doing recently in 2019. This is just a historical reflection as evidenced by the retro photos... no, when I think of Kansas City I do not think of Alvin Brooks and I was born and raised in these streets. Fuck Al... hopefully this is his swan song. Nobody will remember him in 5 years, except maybe the suckers giving him money.

  9. The GKC Chamber recognizes that the Northland is the future of the City, they are doomed to become irrelevant.

  11. Al Brooks is a phony.

6:49 Is correct. What has he done to reduce crime? Nothing. He likes being in front of a camera and on the radio KPRS/KPRT.

What crime statistics CAN ANYONE put forth that reflect Al's work or effort to save lives in the inner city?
