The most wonderful thing about this nation is the right to hold a dumb-ass opinion and express it freely.
And so far, for those dedicated to the political discourse, Prez Trump earning boos from fans of America's pastime has been the highlight of the World Series.
World Series fans taunting the Prez was an interesting moment in American history given that the Prez rose to power by way of massive rallies filled with adoring supporters hanging on his every word. But when he finally stepped outside of his social media and press event bubble, he was met with jeers.
And so we ponder our local situation in this great American debate . . . Let's not forget that Kansas City sports fans tend to skew Conservative with JoCo guests crowding KCMO stadiums.
And so we ask . . .
WOULD KANSAS CITY SPORTS FANS BOO PREZ TRUMP?!?!
This blog would guess NO if only because KC tends to be overly nice and middle-class manners still resonate in the world of local politics.
However, smarter readers than TKC contend that this exchange only offers more proof of the the transformation of American politics into a far more coarse, divisive and downright hostile affair.
Nevertheless, we're anxious to hear what our blog community thinks on the topic and if those opinions can be expressed artfully, thoughtfully and without the same kind of pent up frustration that inspired critics to lash out and clown the Prez.

The stranger link has it right. It's an American tradition to give the president hassle. Nothing signifies freedom more than that. They can't do that kind of thing in China.

ReplyDeleteI was at a public event where folks that are considered moderate / independent shared that the Democrats have gone way too far to the left as well as CNN etc. There were comments regarding Bernie Sanders promises of everything from health care to college tuition is going to be free and who is going to pay for it. I think there truly is a fear that the Democrats are bordering on Communism / Atheism.

The death of Ali Al Baghdadi is not due to Trump. It happened in spite of him. His troop "withdrawal" from Syria almost derailed it. The person most responsible for this successful outcome was a Kurdish Freedom Fighter.
Lock him up, because he confessed to committing a crime on live television on the White House Lawn, then committed another crime by asking China to investigate the Bidens. And, no, he was not joking. And no, he was not asking them to investigate "corruption". He was asking them to interfere in our electorial process by impugning a political opponent.
