TKC MUST SEE!!! VISIT KC LAUNCHES KANSAS CITY WORLD CUP BID DESPITE CONCERNS OVER FIFA CORRUPTION!!!

Whenever TKC witnesses fanboy hype and irrational exuberance regarding soccer and the World Cup . . . This headline comes to mind:

Journalist in Ghana who helped expose FIFA corruption shot dead

Certainly, everyone in Kansas City is pure of heart and would never conspire to knowingly invite an organization to town despite its involvement in one of the biggest corruption scandals the sporting world has ever witnessed.

And never mind that the legacy of that scandal continues to generate headlines years later and just a few months ago . . .

Marketing group fined $1 million in FIFA corruption case

No, Kansas City certainly wouldn't ignore warning signs from other cities across the nation that don't want anything to do with the organization . . .

Chicago, Minneapolis, Arizona drop out of 2026 World Cup bid, blast FIFA

Of course KCMO would take allegations of corruption seriously and speak with the public about promotional efforts instead of just rolling out the welcome wagon . . .

Or maybe not.

Here's the pitch from Visit KC that features  hometown sports heroes:

Kansas City is a world-class soccer city. It's time for us to welcome the world to the center of it all.

Matt Besler, Patrick Mahomes and Salvador Perez, honorary captains for KC's 2026 World Cup bid, want your help in bringing the world's largest sporting event to the Heart of America.

Sign the petition, volunteer and donate at kc2026.com.

  1. This would be horrible for Kansas City.

    I'm sure we'll win.

  2. Another "opportunity" for a great private/public partnership.
The taxpayers will pick up the tab.
And a handful of out-of-town corporations and individuals will enjoy the profits.
    Good "consulting" opportunity for Sly.
And freebies, selfies, and PR hype for Lucas and the gang.
    Dig deep KCMO taxpayers!

  6. I hope Kansas City doesn't get it. I have grown to hate soccer, Sporting and their fans since Sporting screwed the MIAA and the NCAA in the D2 football championship game two years ago.

  11. I'd love to have the world cup here, but FIFA has already decided the hosts and everyone knows that already, but KC is still acting like we have a chance. IT HAS ALREADY BEEN DECIDED. Also that link about Chicago, Arizona, and Minnesota dropping out is over a year and a half old
